my horse is 18month and he had a rain sheet on at 6 months. But tbh i think my horse has needed it in the cold temps we have had as he has been showing signs of not being warm enough in a rug to light. He is welsh and where i live does not have anything to do with the situation
 
Well, OP, I haven't got a clue what you're trying to say. But I'm reasonably confident that you're being unreasonable. If you want a 5 star yard, pay for it and move to one. If you pay for a backyard barn that's what you get :rolleyes:

Surely where the horse lives has something to do with the weight of rug that a youngster is wearing. I can't think that there is anywhere in the UK currently that would require an 18 month old native to be in a heavyweight rug!

So you have gone from a rain sheet to a HW on a native? Whatever happened to LW, MW rugs?

Well each to their own but I know my TB's in north Scotland at that age had nothing on. It stopped them becoming toast racks later in life.

As has been said, where you live has a lot to do with it.

there plenty of natives in rugs and some that wear more then one and in the uk theres horse that never leave heavy weight rugs all year round. sorry but me rugging my horse has nothing to do with anyone but how my horse is doing day to day. have you ever read the what rugs have you got on? and he is now in a med :D

Totally agree.

Even if OP was up north (assume they are UK base, but hard to tell if English is there 1st language TBH) daytime temp have been about 5C recently. Gord knows how Welshie's survive year in year out on the mountains!!

he was in lightweight at 6 months he now 18 months i havnt just jumped from one to another i wouldnt do that. ive rug to how my horse feels and to stop mane pulled out. taking a chill pill and leaving this forum as it christmas day and it shouldnt be spend moaning on about something in the past.

If there is a rug that pulls manes please tell me as I have one who needs his mane pulled and I can't be arsed doing it.

yes newcastle. i could tell you the yard but not where others could see and i bet if you knew the place or anyone who had been there isnt a nice thing said about it but its not a big place.

if i want to rug him i will. if you want to leave your horse without people telling you online isnt going to make any difference when only you know how you horse feels everyday i check him even when he is out. and as i have said i have put a med on instead of heavy as temp is now higher i will gradually go to light.

How many time do i have to say he is not in a heavy weight anymore! he is in a medium and its a 180g if you want to know the exact weight. Merry christmas and have a good new year people go find someone else who cares.

Ooh thanks - Cheers! I'll decline on the turkey sarnie though. Champers? We had £3.50 cava from Asda - it was actually quite nice - by the time I'd had one glass the taste of the rest became irrelevant.....
