I'm musing about options to get my boy turned out more. For most of the year (except the summer months) he has a three hour slot in the field. They will only turn him out on certain days, but if I put him out myself he can go out. Now, I work full time so can't turn him out. I'm musing as to whether I should try and find a sharer to ride him two days a week - their only commitment would be to turn him out at 11.30 and bring him in at 14.30 on a Wednesday and a Friday. I wouldn't expect any other help or financial commitment as he's on part livery. They'd be welcome to school or hack him (we have amazing hacking, an indoor school and an outdoor) on those days and they could have him on the odd weekend day on an ad hoc basis by agreement if they wanted.
Wouldn't be for a few months as we're sorting out some muscle issues at the moment that can make him prone to the odd buck in canter so I want to get that sorted first. He needs a reasonably competent rider, but is generally easy enough to ride and is nicely schooled - just wouldn't want to stick a complete novice on him!
Am I delusioned in thinking anyone would want this? I wondered if it might suit a mum who'd like to ride a couple of days a week whilst the kids are at school, but then would they really want to come up to the yard to ride, turnout and then come back three hours later to bring in, or vice versa?!
