Would anyone like to hazard a guess? Maybe a vet on here could help?

My boy went lame 2 weeks ago, no trauma happened, just got him in from the field one night, lunged him and saw he was lame. Looked high up so the physio came and saw him, done treatment (said he was sore on bum) and to give him 3 days off, lunged again after 3 days, no different. She said give him abit longer, gave him a further 5days off, no different, so now i have booked the vet for Monday. (vets on holidaytill then) All through this he has been in the field at day, and in at night.

Before everyone jumps on me, he is not lame in a walk, not lame in trot on the straight, not lame on the lunge when he bad leg is on the inside!! Only looks slightly lame when the bad leg is on the outside on the lunge

Surely he would be lame alot more when its on the inside??

He is fine in himself. Farrier has checked foot, nothing wrong, the farrier is stumpted as he is tracking up even on the straight, isnt doing anything weird on the back end, just looks slightly wierd, as i said, ONLY when that leg is on the outside on the lunge

Anyone have any clues? I will hopefully know more on monday but i thought id stick it on here to see if anyones experienced similar? Thankyou.

Could be a few things- your vet will be the best person to advise!!- (I'm not a vet so not going to hazard a brilliant guess!) if the horse is sore behind, but I suppose it could be related to a subtle lameness lower down in the leg? ie hock or near hock /foot ? or could even be sacroiliac tightness/soreness, but then that may be secondary to something else. Get your vet to have a look/ nerve block etc, maybe ride and have a think what your horse actually feels like when you are riding rather than lungeing on circles. Good luck hope you get it sorted!

My horse had similar strange lameness; he was sound in all paces except right canter. It happened out of the blue. In the end (took months) he was diagnosed with kissing spines. But there are probably lots of things it could be with your horse (mine seems to specialise in strange problems which stump the vets

). Good luck with vet on Monday.

could well be a grobbly¬¬
.MRI s are expensive and not usually available on insurance (some ins pay for 50% of a MRI £1100 plus i think everyone needs to write to insurance co s asking for MRI fees to be allowalble under vets fees!!! a fantastic diagnostic tool for most lamenesses!!

Hi, yes my 8 yr old had 2 mri scans, a year apart from each other costing us £2200, that wasnt covered on insurance, i havent actually got a clue what im covered on so i best go and check.....

It could be so many thing, but every simptom points towards PSD....

Will give updates on him, thanks guys x

Hate to say it but it sounds exactly like ours when he had PSD - he was never lame just "odd" on the lunge and reluctant to go forward.
Good luck with the vet.
