I've been a lurker for a while on here, but not really posted much about me or my boys. So after reading the thread about reports, I decided to bite the bullet and do one.
So I'd like to introduce Wally. He's one of 4 horses that I own. I also have a dressage horse by Jazz who is currently competing AM, training PSG, a rising 5yr old by Master Imp and a retired event mare aka the lawn mower and lorry babysitter for the dressage horse who won't travel on his own
Wally is a rising 9yr old KWPN gelding by Great Pleasure. His main job is eventing, jumping his first Intermediate last season, which I hope to build on this year with a few more good runs at that level.
He's big, I'm 5'9 to give you an idea of his size. He has a massive shoulder which means he finds things harder than a smaller more compact horse. It has taken a while for him to mature, but he's feeling stronger and happier in his own skin this year. He's surprisingly agile for a big boy, finding that 5th leg when he needs to. He can be incredibly frustrating at times though as he's got all the talent in the world but sometimes doesn't bother using it! He doesn't have any self motivation, so I am learning the key to motivate him, focus him and then get out the way and let him do his job. This doesn't come easy to me, so it's been a learning curve and will keep increasing I feel!
So here he is at a training clinic with Richard Waygood at the weekend. My very own dinosaur
Would be lovely if I wasn't making sure his head wasn't going to fall off...
