Just found out I have got to pull Foxy's tail for the show This is the horse who needs sedating for clipping. I have a feeling this isn't going to go well

use a rake or sissors.. the sissors bit take some mastering ..

Use trimmers, looks just as good as pulling IMO and much quicker/stress free

I really don't think I'll be able to do that, I might get one of the trimmers from the tack shop.

He is very highly strung, you have to tie him up in order to touch his ears for tempreture taking

I was under the impression arabs were meant to be 'au natural' for showing in arab classes, like M&M. Nothing pulled, cut or plaited (apart from sometimes cutting a bridle path).
Prepared to be corrected though!!

He is part bred so he has to be fully trimmed and plaited

Whatever you do please please please dont use trimmers/clippers! The only results I have ever seen have been a disaster. The rakes seem to just about do a good enough job and get it done very quickly.

Would never use clippers, but I use tail rakes on all of mine and think it looks just as good as a pulled tail.

Use a rake, no stress/danger for you or him. He'll just think you're brushing his tail.

I am rubbish at pulling full stop, but all the trimers I have seen used, it makes the horse look like he has been shaven bald IMHO, the rakes as have already been said seem to do the next best job

Use a rake. It gives the same effect as a pulled tail without the pain and is a lot quicker to do.
