A 9yo undersocialised Springer spangle bitch? She's spayed (about the only positive thing), completely off her head so more of an outdoor dog. Doesn't walk on the lead and wets herself if you try to brush her/cut her hair.

Also does not like being left alone, likes some other dogs but not all and can be agressive to "intruders"...? Is she rehomeable? Is it worth a shot (lead or otherwise?)

Sorry for your loss - and chocolate cake for you - but I would have her PTS :( I know it would be very hard for you, but she will be incredibly unhappy and miserable if you try to rehome her :(

Sorry to hear about your dad but I would say PTS too. She's suffered a loss too and at her age, with her issues, it might be incredibly stressful for her to be thrown into a new situation.

Ditto, sadly.

To take an obviously disturbed and unhappy dog, out of its known environment, and placing it with total strangers would be torment. I'm sorry but that's the truth.

I've read your other thread, and I know that you don't want sympathy. Difficult days for you, but I suspect that in your heart, you know the answer.

Good luck.

Alec.

Sorry but another for PTS.

At that age upheaval is a huge trauma. Not the same with every dog, but when Ma n Pa moved house their elderly JRT went a bit nuts and they had done everything to make it easy for him.

The sofa is split (OH and myself).
OH- This is an exact description of Pip when we got her but the weeing was worse, everytime you approached her. Personally (me not OH) think her age is very much against her but Pip is still a puppy at heart and everything is a game and in a month and a half she is a differant dog but not perfect.

Me- The other thing about Pip is she never would have coped with being in any kind of kennels, as in melt down and I believe she never would have been rehomed. It is because Rich and I knew her that we took her on. I think in the 'open market' the kindest thing would have been PTS.

Whatever you do I'm sure it will be the best for her. Best wishes.

Thanks very much you guys. I need to see her when I go back on Wednesday, I always got on ok with her actually but I haven't seen her for a year or so and I don't know if she has got worse. I have to say, if it was a horse I'd PTS immediately but being that she's a dog, a pet dog and a previously much loved (if bonkers) friend it makes me want to try. She wouldn't go into kennels, I could keep her short term but have a small house and two dogs already so I can't keep her. I have seen lots of dogs rehabilitated and I don't want to give up on her but I think it's best to see her and then decide.
