Would anyone want to do this?

Another one who would bite your hand off as I lost my mare last year and I have one rising 4 yr old not backed yet (so I desperately need to get some riding in in preparation) and a yearling, but I'm just too far away (north Essex...ARGH!)

I used to help an eventer hack out her horses about 10 years ago. Loved it, gained lots of experience riding her youngsters and she was good company. Got lots of gossip about the pro's! Advertise in local tack shops, colleges etc I'm sure there must be lots of non-horse owning riders out there that would love the opportunity to ride your horses.

I am at uni and thats the sort of thing I was looking for (as in just helping someone with their horses, and not paying to do it (as in not riding lessons etc) ) and ended up with a fabulous part time job, but I would havej ust been extatic with the chance to ride full stop!!

I don't think you would have any trouble, id just make sure htey are good enough riders for you, as obv being so well schooled etc you dont want someone coming in and being hand heavy or something and ruining all your hard work!

if I was based in suffolk I would be going MEMEMEMEMEMEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

You'll def find someone easily i'm sure. A dressage rider with two horses on my yard has her friend hack out one while she rides the other on a weekend. And my instructor's friend who rides Tia twice a week for me hacks out my instructor's old boy for him too.

hell yes, a freind of mine comes to me to hack out a now retired but still mildly neurotic pointer, so i think a well mannered well schooled eventer would be lots of peoples idea of perfect!

Thats almost exactly what I do! It's pretty much my only riding and I love it! If you've got local unis around you and are willing to be flexible I'd go for a uni rider like me. I fit it in on afternoons off but it can be really variable from week to week. But I get to ride amazing horses I wouldn't otherwise be able to and I've gotten some great opportunities through it.

I found mine via the ridemyhorse website.

Good luck!
