Would I find a rider, and where's best to advertise?

I have a lovely and very talented young 14.2hh pony who I would like ridden more, and looking for a small experienced (dressage/show/competition) rider who is calm and confident to enjoy him, school him on further and compete him.

I have transport and will give total back up. I will pay for all running costs for the pony, and only ask that the rider pays for any lessons booked and entry fees when competing. No other monies will change hands.

Does this sound reasonable and possible? Should I advertise - and where is best?

We are on the Oxon/Bucks border in a village just outside of Thame, there is public transport here, but it's not that great, so ideally someone who has a car would be better.

Help with chores would be appreciated, but not expected, I am quite happy to do these if the rider doesn't have time, or isn't able to help.

If I were you I would be tempted to have a chat with my local Pony Club DC and see if there is a child that is currently looking for something to ride. It sounds a lovely offer and a great opportunity for someone. Good luck. :)

Thanks - yes the pony club dc is a good suggestion, and would attract local people, the pony did pony club last year so he is known to them. The only thing that sort of crosses my mind is that would a pony club child be experienced enough and understand enough to be able to bring the pony on in his schooling? I guess there's quite a wide range of levels of riding within the pony club these days?

There aren't many local yards near me to advertise, but there are two feed stores, so maybe that would be another idea?

I don't see why not. Yes some pony club kids are useless, or do well competing only because they have very expensive ponies. But there's also a fair few that will have had cheap ponies & had to school them on themselves already. If you get kids that have grown up with them riding most days even by early teens they'd put a lot of adults to shame. Plus they'd be able to do pony club comps as well as any an adult can do. Worth sticking ads in feed & tack shops but you may get calls from novices too.
