OK, this is not an ad, just wondering whether it is worth paying for one, and if so where would be best. And actually whether it would be sensible to do it at all. I have been totally honest below, what do you think. She is my daughters and I am not allowed to sell her, however I am fed up of seeing her doing nothing.
16.2hh ish Skewbald Warmblood Mare. Not done much up to now, only hacking and schooling. Has done some showing including a big county where she behaved reasonably in a ridden class or two. Did behave very badly in an in hand class at local level but we had never practiced it.
Well behaved if ridden regularly but if you leave her for a few weeks she will hump/half rear generally mess about until she settles. Needs a sympathic rider when she does this, bullying her will make it worse. She was broken as a four year old and managed to drop my daughter a couple of times when she first came home. Since then I dont think anyone has come off until earlier this year when she managed to fall over with her rider.
Is handled on the ground by us and an 80+ year old relative who sings to her . Good for the farrier if he also sings to her, otherwise can be a bit awkward. Hates the vet but we have strategies for dealing with it. Good for the dentist. Good to clip except her head when you have to spend a bit of time and patience. Excellent to load and travel.
Had an operation on her stifle as a three year old, it has never caused any problems since but I probably dont want her doing any serious jumping just in case.
My daughter doesn't like hacking, but other people have taken her and she has been fine with traffic, other horses or alone. The guy who broke her was using her to escort nervous horses on hacks two weeks after she was backed.
Obviously needs someone experienced. I would like her to stay on our yard and would be happy to provide transport / groom etc for competitions.
Do you think anyone would be interested
