Would it bother you...

yeah, as my friend michael was travelling in his mates lorry and he was in with horse to make sure they travelled ok as there was no door into living area.
one of the horses went down whilst he was in there and he had no way of telling his mate to stop

(horse thankfully ok)

No i am going viewing a box tomorrow but thats the only thing i have noticed that bothers me, there is only the ramp. Its not so bad for me with the little ones as i could get one put in from the living area but the horses travel facing backwards so if you had two horses in larger than minis you wouldnt be able to use the jockey door as it would be where their bums are (if that makes sense)

Just wondered if it would be an issue if i wanted to sell at later date.

O.K. so there is a jockey door, but it is just in a crap place, use this as a bargaining tool to knock the price down if the box suits you needs.

No, there isnt a jockey door lol, Stinkbomb is saying because they travel facing backwards, if she installed a door it would hit a bigger horse up the backside.

What no access to horse area at all without dropping the ramp??

Access from horse area to living doesn't bother me, but would want access from outside box into horse area (other than the ramp).

O.K. think I have been really thick here (what's new)!!! I'm guessing the lorry has a side ramp, in which case it is quite normal where the horses travel facing the rear, that there is no other access to the horse area other than the ramp.

well, then there's the question of what if the lorry turned over on it's side... on the ramp? you could install a jokey door and it wouldnt devalue it, because simply if someone didnt want to use it they wouldnt have to.

There is nowhere to put a jockey door (from outside lorry into horse area) as normally there are tack lockers under the horses heads/necks.

Right to clarify!!!!

Have posted a pic below of the layout. To the right of the pic is the rear. horses face this way and underneath them is a tack locker ( no room for door ) the only place for door is to the left of the pic but as you see it will open up onto a horses bottom ( if there are two horses in the box )

Now for me it doesnt matter as i wont be travelling them with a partition and can have them facing which ever way i want. but for someone else buying it if they want to travel two horses it may be a problem. I just wondered if this would put any potential buyers off ( either no door or one opening onto a bottom, basically if there were two full size horses in it you wouldnt be able to use the door )

I know several people who have small lorries with two horses facing backwards. There is no access from the cab to the horses, but there IS a jockey door in each lorry. These are where the equitrek fits their jockey door. At the back of the lorry. I realise the lorry you are seeing has a tack locker, but my friend's lorries have two small tack locker, with the door in the middle. I certainly wouldn't travel a horse with out a jockey door. If you get stuck in a horrific traffic snarl-up (and believe me I've done it), you need to be able to get in to the horses, perhaps to top up hay, offer water and generally make sure they are ok. To have one put in would probably cost quite a lot by the time you take in respraying etc.

Yes it would bother me - apart from the safety aspect, I think the less 'standard' a box is the more you narrow down your potential market for re-sale.
