First off, I'm not advertising as it's only a thought.

Would a competition yard be interested in a cheap live in groom and offer accomodation for two horses? I'm convinced the answer is no but my friend seems to think it's possible!
 
Quite possibly you often see adverts saying can bring own horse so I don't see why some employers wouldn't strech to two if they have room and would probably be reflected in wages.
 
Possibly. I'd say it depends how good you are and how good your riding is imo

Also on the standard of yard you're after is quite relevent. Are you wanting one with training? Our grooms are vetted quite thoroughly before they're considered and our YO expects grooms to supplement the keep on one horse let alone more (otherwise it's just not worth her while). I know by the time the training is deducted from their wages, adding on livery costs would put the grooms *owing* money not earning. And training isn't optional because without it, the grooms arent much use (as they then cant ride the horses on the yard anyway)

However we're probably at the top end of the competition yard market with a grade 1 dressage rider competing at GP and a couple of young rider squad prospects and world potential squad prospects based there too.

Livery on some of the nicer yards is very expensive and you have to consider that they will "loose" two lots of full livery / schooling livery by you taking your horses. That can add up to quite a lot of money so while most live in jobs will take one, if you start wanting to take more, then they ask you to pay the livery (in my experience).

On the other hand, good grooms with lots of experience under their belts, particularly in their discipline are worth their weight in gold. But I think they'd need to really want you which would come down to your CV, stable management experience, riding skills and so on.
