Would people be interested in hunting workshop/clinics?

Just doing a bit of market research for a friend - would anyone be interested in doing a 2 day hunting introductory clinic?

Basically a decent event rider to give a cross country schooling tune-up in a group, with a focus about hunting turn-out, etiquette and safety. Then, on a different day (say a week later), to take a small group of 3-4 out with the same rider to a day's cubbing or quiet days hunting, where the rider can 'nanny' and give a lead etc. This would be done in association with the local hunt to get more people involved (but safely and with some tuition).

Is there a market for this sort of thing? I'd be interested to know how much people would pay to have this sort of 2-day hunting workshop?
 
I would have been interested in this when I first started hunting. I think the Cotswold Hunt do something very similar, taking a group out to show them how to properly tackle natural fences that you are likely to meet out hunting. It is always fully booked. Not sure of the price though.
 
I know Brian Hutton runs very popular pre hunting courses at Talland

I used to run them too, slightly differently in that they were for established hunting people who wanted a refresher before the season started - having not ridden or jumped since the end of the previous one.

Yours sounds like fun - and a good idea to give newcomes confidence :)
 
Sounds like a really good idea. If you could link it up with a yard that does hirlings as well it would be a really good way to introduce newbies to hunting, but by making sure they're on a suitable horse adding an extra safety thing for their first outing iyswim

Yes they do, um with a very good Irish eventer forget his name at the mo! Similar sort of thing to what you suggest OP but shorter, think you ride in an arena and are taught first, then taken out into Cotswold country to pop a few fences. Can't remember how much it was but it was reasonable, £50ish I think? For a few hours though.

Think yours is a great idea OP, just what I would have liked when I started out. Also think it would be supported by the hunt(s), lots of people express an interest in hunting to me but can't quite make themselves go, through simple fear of the unknown I think. I reckon something like you propose may draw people in. Go for it!! :)
 
stephen hadley does pre hunting courses in warwickshire. 2 days of jumping sj/grids/xc, control, etiquette etc. usually well attended and very good fun!
 
SKEWBY, long time no speak! I think it's normally Jonty Evans who runs the hunt clinic with the Cotswold. He had quite a nasty accident and is out of action at the moment so I guess he won't be doing it this year.
 
i would love to do something like this as i dont get the chance to attend many meets but it would be useful if i were to meet the unexpected on one of the rare days i get to go.
Also alot of people who seem to go to the meets around me do seem very unfamiliar with what to expect and also the manners/etiquette expected of them i think this would be a really good idea
 
I know someone who does this in Yorkshire and I have heard they are excellent.
