I'm considering selling my horsebox (due to still living at home, desperate to move out and save for deposit on somewhere) as the loan I got out on it along with the running costs are proving to be pretty expensive.

However, I have a 13 yo TB who I've evented at low levels and done some SJ and Drs on over the last couple of years. Love him to pieces so really don't want to sell him but struggle to motivation to school and ride if I haven't got anything competitive to aim at.

So I was wondering whether I could try to find someone with their own transport that may like to compete him (at their own cost) so I've got good enough motivation to keep him working well at home and don't feel he's being wasted by not doing anything. Does anyone think this is something that somebody would be interested in? I am thinking though that anyone with own transport would presumably also have own horse

Horse is obviously no spring chicken but he hasn't really done much at between coming out of racing at 6 and me buying him out of a field 2 years ago. He's a lovely boy, pretty straight forward (if a little anxious and spooky so would need experienced rider, not a 'i fancy a go at that' type) but wants to do the right thing and is very amiable.

Anyway, would you think this is this an avenue worth considering??

Thanks for reading.

Personally I would of jumped at something like this 6 months ago, I have two of my own with transport, one is an oldie the other was injured and I was desperate to get out and be doing something!

People wouldn't necessarily have to have there own transport they may be wanting to go along with friends or happy to rent a box. I'd certainly advertise and see what level of interest you get.

I had a similar set up last year when my horse was off injured. I evented someone elses horse for the season and it worked out great. I paid for all his entries fees etc He was her hunter (very talented little horse just to be a hunter) so she wasnt that interested in doing much with him when hunting finished! I was able to do what I liked with him and had a great season... she would like me to do a bit again with him this year but now my horse is come back into work I will struggle to fit in the 2 :(

Thank you both. May be an avenue that's worth exploring then - although now worried whether I'd feel a bit jealous watching someone else having fun and doing things with my neddy. Lottery win is the only answer I think lol.

Thank you

You can probably find someone out there who might be willing to take him along if you contribute to diesel and you can still ride him then.

Would be worth joining a local Facebook horsey group and putting a message out - or your local RC
