ok, i keep my horse at a livery yard but he is away being broken in at the mo. i'm still paying for my stable. well today i was bored, so i went up the yard to clean out stable and potter around. when i went in my stable there was someone else's rug in there drying. would this annoy you?

No, why would it annoy?
The person knew your horse wouldn't need the stables, so it is just practical to use it for drying rugs in this bad weather.
In life, you can't control people's actions. You can however, control your REactions to them - and if you constantly upset yourself over trivialities such as this, you will have a stressed and unhappy life.
Chill!

No not really. If my horse wasn't in it and all they were doing was hanging a rug to dry then what harm could it do?

So long as no-one using my pone's rugs etc. or my gear without putting it back, then no, I would not mind, but people knwo that about me so they'd probably use my stable if my horse wasn't there. Maybe people at your yard think of you in the same way?

The last yard but one that I was at, there was a person, who is absolutely lovely, but no one would dream of touching her stuff, or in this case using her stable.

Just different folks

It would annoy me slightly so I would pick it up and put it to dry on the persons stable who owned the rug, would not bother me enough to grumble or even have words.

:@ o it makes me angry when people assume they can use my stuff with out asking aswell

yard near us recently had strangles, so we were banned from moving our horse. when the ban was lifted, a new horse came in. the yo started using my bucket brush on this new horses buckets... when it is meant purely for my horse, it has her name on it... now that wound me up, cos its really not clever after all the strangles stuff :@

or they take bits off my peg and try them on their horse, i really couldnt care less if they had asked

but thats just me being an organised stressy freak bout things like that :@

No not at all. If my stable was free at the time then by all means stick a rug in it to dry out.

Yes it would be a different matter if it was my rug or there was poo everywhere but I certainly wouldnt have a problem for someone to dry out a rug or even pop there horse in there as long as they cleaned it up afterwards.

i suppose it wasn't really the fact they had used my stable, it was more the fact they are to lazy to clear a space on the rug wall and would rather use my stable. it also wouldn't of bother me at all if i hadn't of had to go on a hunt for my fork.

No, I don't think so. I would just have a quiet word with those or whom concerned if it is getting to you. Life is too short.........

No, not in the slightest - I think you are being really uptight to be honest!!!

What harm does it do you if someone's wet rug is hanging in a stable that you aren't using at the moment - would you rather her horse went out tomorrow wearing a damp rug??

Your horse isn't even on the yard - as Shilasdair said - CHILL OUT!!

Personally, even if I was paying for the stable, if my horse wasn't on the yard I would be quite happy for somone to use it to stable their horse for a night or two, as long as they used their own bedding and mucked it out afterwards.....

I hate meanness and selfishness.

Ah, now the things not being returned, that really bugs me! Actually 'bugs' is probably too mild a word for it lol

No it wouldn't. I find all sorts of things in my stables - and I own the darned stables - and no-one is renting them from me at present. Of course I don't care who uses my stables for putting things; heck they can even put their horses in them for all I care, so long as I don't have to muck them out

I have found shires jackets fantastic value for comps both navy and tweed, but they are quite a close fitted cut.My friend has the most beautiful mears tweed, (expensive) a sort of pale olive with a russet check but it is quite roomy in the the boob departmet so try them on if you can as the fit varies so much with different makes

Put it this way then. If you are paying rent for a room in a house and somebody used it to store a load of gear in while you away would you not be annoyed?

I don't think it's about the rug in the stable it's a principle about one person paying for the use of a stable and other people using it for storage. So I'm with jinglebells.

Too many selfish people arouind these days who think they can just help themselves to what ever they want.

i just moved it to their stable but as i said they have a dividing wall down the middle of the barn to dry rugs on. but are to lazy to move they rugs they never use so there is no space on there.

It's one rug, the person didn't dump a whole heap of stuff in the stable.

If I was renting a room in a flat and while I was away on holiday someone used the radiator to dry their clothes I wouldn't care less. If it was still there when I got back I'd put it in their room, I really don't see the issue, people use my stable all the time when my horse is out, so long as no evidence (poo) is left I don't mind and I pay rent on the stable all the time!

Is this an attempt at defusing the situation or a simple mistake?
