Before anyone goes nuts at me for advertising in a backwards way, I am absolutely not, I am merely toying with an idea and wanted opinions...
I am considering getting a sharer for my mare a couple of days a week. In return for being able to ride, I would hope to get maybe 1/2 the cost of her hay every month (as it has shot up in price so flippin' much!) and the cost of her shoes covered by the sharer. In total, I think that this would average out to maybe £52 a month, approximately.
However (and here's where your opinions come in!) I am really, really precious about her. She is a very sensitive soul at times. She does nothing nasty like bucking or rearing, she is fantastic to handle etc. she hacks out alone and in company with no trouble - a real gem! But it has taken me a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get her schooling up together - which is still an ongoing thing and because of this, I absolutely would not want anyone schooling her, even with my instructor. I really would hate to have all of my hard work undone by someone, no matter how well meaning they are, so I would share her out STRICTLY to a happy hacker only. I am also uber fussy about mucking out! However, I would happily do this every day, even on the sharers days, because I know that basically I am being anal about it!
So, am I placing too many limitations on a sharer for people to be interested? She's my baby, and I really don't want to share her, but needs must financially, and also it would do her no harm at all to be hacked out a couple of times a week by someone else. Am I asking for too much money for this?
