Would This Be Ok?

One of the young girls on the yard is going away for a couple of days in a couple of weeks. She has asked me if I would like to ride her pony for her on the Sunday she is away.

The pony is a New Forest, 14hh. I am 5'4 and weigh about 12 stone. Will I be ok on him? I have heard that NF's are good weight carriers, and I would only be taking him out into the forest for a quiet hack (unless he tanks off with me)!

Weight is not always the issue!! an 8 stone novice that sits like a sack of potatoes can do more damage than an advanced rider that weighs 12 stone but carries their own weight within the correct position, you should be fine so long as you can sit correctly! Enjoy yourself.
 
My new forest pony was approx 13HH and he carried my freind who was aboiut 11 stone fine.. he didnt seem to tire anymore easy than if a small child was on board!
 
The owner is obviously happy that you are not too heavy or tall so don't worry about it.
