Horse had above symptoms, something has happened to him, but cant really find out the truth. I have now been told that the farrier put a nail to high in his foot, which has caused him to be footsore and will be fine within a week.

He is a little lame, and has some heat in his hoof, and a little bit in his fetlock. I'm assuming a nail to high up would not cause heat in the fetlock?

Have you spoken to the farrier and asked him if he had done that? If he says no you know they are lieing. I'm sure that he would have had to re do the nail if he had.

I would be surprised if it would cause heat in the fetlock.

Unfortunatly the farrier doesnt know me - horse is done through the yard, and I am not normally there.

However, farrier is a very good one

ets: I think the "nail" excuse is a cover up for another reason for him being lame...

Doesn't matter if he knows you or not - you are paying him for a service. If you think you need to talk to him - simply give him a buzz.

But if you don't think it's nail prick, or bind - then perhaps a little visit from the vet may help......

The vet is coming out anyway this afternoon, so will see what he has to say.

I would be very doubtful if it is nail bind or prick, I have been at the same yard for two years and its never happened before.
