Would this concern you?

Hi all,

I tried a search but couldn't find any discussions on similar topic.

My friend is looking to buy a 2.5yo pure Gypsy Cob. He's a sweet boy, lovely and solid but I've noticed he has small-ish nostrils (see pics, sorry some are not great quality, and they were taken between 1-2.5 yrs old).

Would this concern you? Does exterior nostril size definitely influence a horse's stamina? Or more importantly would this cause health issues?

Advice appreciated thanks!

He looks lovely to me. Although I am interested to know what constitutes a "pure gypsy cob". Are you in Australia or the US, OP? (your pictures look suspiciously sunny). Round here (Yorkshire) a pure gypsy cob is the offspring of a boy horse and a girl horse that travellers put in the same field....do other countries have stud books etc for them?

Me too, I know America has a register but can't see how they decide if your horse is in or out! ☺️ https://www.myghra.org/about-us

If it were spring or autumn it might raise concern for me as my retired boy is a headshaker and his nostrils go really small when he is being affected by the pollen, but this goes along with the obvious headshaking. He looks lovely.

I was just thinking that! I have an Arabian gelding who's been very successful in a variety of roles. He's rising 30 and is still very fit, and very naughty!
