If i turned the horses out 24/7 tonight ? Its supposed to be around 5 or 6 degrees and they've got blanket clips and will have a 350 (i think? its a heavyweight) turnout with neck on and a 110 under rug with neck? Do you think they'll be ok?

It depends what they've been used to i guess and what sort of horses they are !? If they are wussy like Bo, then yes, it would be mean...but then he doesn't 'do' weather below 'mediterranean spring' level

Not at all. Mine are always out, clipped & thoroughly rugged 24/7 & only come in if it's raining. Both 1/2 TB too.

They don't like being in. One boxwalks & neighs to be let out & the other grates his teeth on the door (without his grille) & both of them door kick.

of course they will, I wouldn't even bother with the underrug, but then I'm a cruel mummy with tough neddies!

Well i've left those rugs on them in the stables overnight for the past 2 nights in the hope it may prepare them for staying out!

One is a welsh cob and the other is an irish type not really sure how to describe him?!

Would like to get the other 2 out as well one with the same rug combination but with full clip - very fat, quite cobby belgian horse and the hairy unclipped warmblood - with just the turnout??

I'm sure they'll be fine then....although i don't quite get your logic with putting their H/W rugs on IN the stable in preparation for them going out

Surely it would make more sense to remove a layer in the stable so they get the benefit of it when they do go out

Yer i know weird logic but i've not been feeling that great the past few days maybe that explains it?! Also where its been down to 0 at the beginning of the week they had duvets and stable rugs on. I presume turnouts wouldn't be as cosy as duvets i guess thats where my logic comes from?

Mmmm ok just gotta convince my friend now that the other 2 can stay out as well!!

I am sure if they are well rugged there will not be a problem at all. I think in Kent it will go down to 3 or 4 degrees overnight, so not really cold...

Ahh i'm glad someone else has the same plan as i do!!

Am so sure we got them out 24/7 earlier than this last year tho?!

Yes, but the weather's been too wet. And for us - hunting only finished last week.

Mine started going out 24/7 three weeks ago when the weather picked up, with MW rugs on at night, when the weather got colder again I just upped the rugs on my TB.. The ponios are naked!

Anyway a cobby type and a warmblood should be fine.

Personally I wouldn't put underrugs on - the HW TOs will be fine PLUS if it does rain you have the possibility of the underrugs getting wet, the wet spreading upwards and making the horse cold, wet and miserable.
