This happened to my mate yesterday - her horse is on Box rest, and he is getting very *cheeky* because of it, and has already had a tantrum and decided to bolt off when being led to be tied up whilst he is mucked out. So she is to tie him up outside and close the barn doors.

My other friends horse is on box rest to, and needed a dressing changed so he was led out and then back in to be tied up where #1's horse was tied up whilst he was mucked out. Owner #2 then orders #1's horse moved so that they can use that area (there are outside areas - inside is NOT any cleaner!) so a member of the yard goes to move him. Horse #1 starts to get excited, but thankfully oner #1 spots horse and goes to grab him jut in time and tie him up in another barn. He has already cantered off on tarmac and it si a hoof/leg thing that is wrong with him and he is lame so this is not ideal!!
Owner #1 then says to yard staff that horse#1 is tied up inside for a reason!!
Owner #2 is now in a huff and along with yard staff are ignoring owner #1! It is soo petty - the yard staff keep commenting that Horse #1 is 'dangerous' and badly behaved etc etc - HE HAS BEEN ON BOX REST FOR OVER A WEEK AND IS A TB X WELSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Owner #1 is getting upset as he is NOT a bad horse at all - I have never seen him be openly evil to anyone, well maybe Beau but its a lovers tiff

. - thing is when she comes to sell him he could now have a reputation as they are telling everyone within earshot he is bad and dangerous!! But they all think that owner # 2's horse is the bees knees adn a super star!! Its so petty as Horse #2 has never really competed has no BSJA/BE/BD points or anything and is in need of some proper schooling - he is just pretty and nice and quiet. Horse #1 has competed at Burlegh, has BE points, is a fab jumper and has done country level showing been to Blair etc! Its just soo petty - I think they are jealous!

But back to original point! Would you be pissed off is your horse was on box rest, had to be tied up inside to stop him bolting off, and yet someone came and moved him without your permission and risked him injuring himself - just because another livery said so?

**Sorry if all moy post seem like rants - I have very bad PMT!**

Didn't read the whole thing - sorry....

But why does a horse need to be brought out of its stable to be mucked out/have it's dressing changed - especially if it's liable to p*ss off?

As for the owner of horse #2 - who does she think she is????

I don't know, but I think just as she likes to give it a proper muck out as it is only done once a day, and he has bad feet so she doesn't want him standing in a dirty bed. Plus there is no where to tie them up in the stable and knowing him he would just climb the barrow to get out - lol.
We have those MASSIVE barrows so you cant really take them in with you and shut the door to muck out if there is a horse in there.

Looking after a horse like horse 1, not a bad bone in him but hes a showjumper, and talant isn't docile!

I would be annoyed if anyone moved my horse full stop. Its the sort of thing that make are yard bitter.

I can understand that. When Amy was on box rest though I never dared bring her out and tie her up outside - for the reasons you describe, she'd have been off.

Could the horse not be popped in to another stable whilst this is being done?

I think he is going to be now, but I have to say that if it was me I wouldnt like another horse in Beaus stable - I did let folk do it once and his bed was always completely trashed as the guest horse had a nosy and a dig then would crap and pee everywhere and even after mucking out he wouldn't be keen to come back into it and would then dig the whole thing up cos he could smell someone else plus I personally see it as a very easy way of spreading anything, as when this girl goes up the Full livery beds are done so he cant go in there, and that leaves a dirty bed from one of the DIY's.

So hence why he was kept in the barn, with the doors SHUT as a solution as then he can also have his feet cleaned out etc. It was a good solution!

Yes this would pee me off. But I would let them move my horse and when it went mental ask them are they really that stupid!!! And also tell them that the next time then on their head be it and if the horse is hurt then they would be presented with the vets bill.

Agree with AmyMay, I'd never tie up a horse on box rest outside whilst I mucked it out with other people and horses about and all sorts of exciting things going on. I'd tie up inside the stable with the wheelbarrow across the doorway and muck out round the horse, moving horse to different tie strings if needs be. Then you can change the dressing before you put the bed back down. Although if hypothetically I had tied up outside, yes I'd be miffed if someone else moved my horse.
