A horse advertised for loan to stay at present yard? My pony is coming back off loan and for her own good I really don't want to put her through another yard move, she's a great pony but worried no one will want her if she can't be moved, do these ads generally get a much poorer responce? Thanks
 
I guess if the horse fits the bill for someone then yes I guess, although I haven't even considered calling any of the adverts that say to stay at present yard, as I already have a lovely yard waiting closer to me.

I am sure someone will be willing to call about your horse.....
 
Fingers crossed, had 6 people wanting to try her last time lol but then they could move her if they wanted :o.
 
It does put people off as you are significantly reducing the number of people that the situation would work for. It might not be local, may not offer the kind of livery they want and tbh a lot of people would not want to be on the same yard as the actual owner....

It's worth a go....
 
I think it is a good idea to state what you expect at the begining, a sympathetic person would understand and you would only put off people who may be unsuitable. most people would concider the horse more of a priority than the yard.
 
Unfortunately yes, but only because you may be too far away for a potential loaner to travel so you are narrowing your loanees quite a bit. Also some people may be put off by what could turn out to be an interfering owner. Im certainly not saying you are :D
Its worth trying though, you never know.
 
At my old yard 8 out of the 15 horses where on loan, and the owners had stipulated horse must stay at current yard, they found loaners by advertising in local tack shops, local newsagents, local riding schools and local papers, so it doesnt put people off, what i will say is though, out of the 8 horses that where on loan, 6 of the loaners where under 16. It seemed to appeal more to a younger person as its a kind of "ready made with owner to fall back on" situation which some parents may feel is easier and less responsibility.
 
I'm to busy to interfere so no worries there :D no if horse is happy and they know what they'd doing I'd let them carry on like I did the last people. I've chosen a yard that offers all types of livery so hopefully that will help. Under 16 is fine, I'd love a pony mad kid for her :) shes done a lot of Pony Club so that would suit her rather than me boring her with the odd hack lol
 
Ok, well if i where you, i would advertise in local tack shops and riding schools.

Give as much info as you can, including price, and i bet something will come up very quickly.

One of the ladies on our yard has had her 13.2 NF since he was 6 months old (he is now 17) and he is on loan to a 12 year old little girl who would happily kiss the ground he walks on, however her parents have limited her to 4 days a week, so owner still has to do 3 days, however, she has informed me (bless her heart) that when she is 13 in a few months, because she's a teenager she can get the local bus which stops a few mins walk from the yard so can do everyday!
 
That's a good idea, hasn't thought of that there's a couple of large riding schools near by I could put ads up there
