Would this stance concern you?

So just wasting some BH Monday time watching some badminton videos on t'internet and watched a video from one where their horse is stood like this for a whole bathing session which in the video was a few mins, but in reality would have been easily 20+ mins, stood just relaxing so not grazing or reaching for anything.. Would this be ringing alarm bells for you?

Horse stands stance close throughout the video to my eye but I don't want to 'out' the person with more info as I'm not intending it to be a public bashing.

My horse isn’t a huge fan of being bathed! Not keen on cold water. He stands funny but more typically hind quarters tucked under!

For sure it would worry me, that's extremely abnormal.

PS i can't tell you how relieved I was to open the thread and find out the photo wasn't of yours!
.

🤣 Bless you! I'd be having a breakdown if Dex was stood like that - I have never seen a totally relaxed horse look anything close.

As an aside (because I am just so proud) I have had the most brilliant weekend with Dex now his saddle issues are sorted, I'm so glad I listened to my gut, first two alone hacks and I am totally in awe of him! Such a confident, jolly little horse totally unphased by anything the big world has to throw at him - just look at these happy ears for his first canter away from home.

It's odd. It might just be a reaction to cold water but I'd keep a close eye on it for if it does it at any other time.

if it were leaning over the door then no or leaning to reach for a treat no but anything else yes it would, I would suspect back or neck injury or pain, the fact both front legs are together very odd.

I had a gelding who stood like that if there was the slightest chance of cold water going between his back legs. Never did it any other time, just washing, although he’d do it pre-emptively if you walked close to him with the wash bucket and sponge and he was worried he was in line for it.

If it’s just washing, I wouldn’t worry. Outside of that, I’d be concerned.

That's interesting about the washing, Dex will tuck his bum under if I am cold hosing his back end or tail but he doesn't stand over in front in that circumstance

He was an odd one, I’ve had a few who do the bum tuck but he sunk his front end in just like that one. No idea what the thought behind it was, but he lived a long, happy and sound life despite that one quirk.

I know who it is. She has form for competing and breeding from horses with a ?? mark over them. But the horse passed the vet and placed, so who knows. I'd be worried if it was mine.

If your asking for a wild guess I would say his back is sore .
He also appears to have some atrophy below the wither and front part of his back but you can’t be sure about that from a picture .
