would you all tell me a little about yorself please?

I'm Simon, started riding late in life (38), ex and kids started and thought I ought to have a go. After a few years in a school got Ben a 16hh cob who was up for it (only 5 so we taught each other loads of bad thngs), started eventing in 2003 Still have Ben, though out on loan as picked up a tendon injury. Another couple of horses came and went before I got MG, rising 7, last year. Done some SJ but no eventing. Last year 5 intros completed 3 but only one clear XC, This year 8 PNs 6 clear XC, moved to novice 7 starts 6 clear XC and a doble clear at 1*!! Role o next year

Never introduced myself originally so will do it now.
Im Sabrina, nearly 23 and from Somerset. I have Corrie, a 14.3hh 18yo irish cob mare who i started exercising 10 years ago, slowly took on more reasponsibility with her and took her on fully 8 years ago. We mainly hack and school, done a few local dressage tests, she would jump but im to much of a wimp!
I also co-own Dougal, a 10.2hh 20yo shetlandxdartmoor who is currently with his co-owner. He's a seriously cheeky chappie!

Hi I'm Sarah i am 33 and have a beautiful daughter Chloe who is 15. I am a reablement assistant and i also practise reiki on friends and family and cat! and will be doing my Reiki 2 soon. I live in Chelmsford and i love Kings of Leon, reading, yoga, and walking in the park

Oldgit - I salute you!

both my parents attempted to start riding later in their 30's. mum did ok, fell off at her first xc. to be fair though her pony chucked her off at every show she took him too, but she wouldn't sell him. She is great though, helps me hack out my eventers and the younger ones after i assure her they are safe enough!!! Dad is still trying - now 50, says he is going to badminton. the grey below was bought for him 3 years ago and i think we would be generous if we said he had ridden him 20 days in 3 yrs!!!! hence why i have 'stolen' the ride.

nice idea! i'm Kerry, live in South Lincs at the moment (won't be forever though, i usually move me, dogs and horses about every 5 years or so!), am lucky enough to have land, stables and manege at home. 3 horses (had 7 at one point!), all bay mares: Katy the should-be-eventing-but-isn't-quite-right ex-tb, Daisy (homebred 4 yr old) and Ellie (4 yr old i've owned for 3 yrs), both supposed to become eventers i hope. also have 5 jrts, 2 pet call ducks and about 14 hens. have BD'd to Medium, sj'd to Fox and evented to 3*. oh, and if i really have to put my age, i'm 40 but usually pass for 10 years younger. oh, and thanks to Daisy, i'm rather crocked at the moment...!

Great idea!!
I'm Bex, 31, currently live on the Wilts/Glos border. Have ridden since before I could walk, used to do a lot of BSJA on ponies - went to RIHS a couple of times, younger brother did a lot more.
Stopped having my own horse when I went to Uni and now am support crew to my brother and my dad who both harness race under BHRC rules. We've currently got 3 competition standard horses which we're trying to ride more so doing a lot of re-learning with them, a couple of WB youngsters, and some harnessbred horses that won't be broken in for a bit so plenty to be getting on with at the mo

who I'm going to attempt to teach to ride over the winter, theory being that the harness horses are simpler to ride as they go entirely off your voice but that remains to be seen!! Currently unemployed so let me know if you hear of any marketing jobs!!

I live in Gloucestershire and after a 20 year break to bring up sons (I'm 41) I have returned to having my own horse. Before I gave up jumped to B&C and Fox levels and evented a bit. Things like BN and discovery didn't exist and poles were definately wooden. I also had a couple of rides ptp. I now have a 5 year old chestnut warmblood (who is the blingyest horse alive!) I have had him since he was a 4 year old and we are taking our time. He's brilliant I'm not! I work full time so we are based on a SJ competition yard with the most beautiful SJ and dressage youngsters.

My name is Emily. I'm 23 years old and a second year medical student at warwick, waiting to fail my exams in a few weeks.
Colin (the coloured)got me into eventing when I was 13 and is now enjoying a quieter life with a friend of OH.
My 5 year old eventer is off to Rossdales for a re-MRI on monday to find out if the first of his multitude of problems is fixed.

O and My OH is a dressage rider!

I'm Emily, I'm 20 and at uni in Surrey, originally I'm from Essex.

I own Dibbs, the coloured cob in my sig, and we've done a bit of everything but while I'm at uni we are just happy hackers. I've had him since I was 16 and he's my baby.

I'm a carer at weekends and a cleaner early mornings, hoping to get a good career after uni!

Hi, I'm an ex-postie too.
smile.gif
I've been a groom for horse driving trials ponies for a few years now though.

I have 4 mares. Flame's my old pony. She is nearly 30 and hopefully immortal. I have another retired pony called Abby. I also have a lame, strange chestnut sports horse called Debbie and a lovely, normal grey sports horse called Diamond.

I hope you're enjoying the forum, it is very addictive!

Hi, i've never introduced myself. I'm 21, mum owns a small yard, which we keep our 2 ponies at. I lost my horse in 2004 and then got my pony who is a real character, He done his suspensory ligament was badly in April and has been recovering, only just been signed off by the vet. My other is a loan pony for my sister she is doing very well at dressage.
I went to an equine college then worked on a livery yard but now work for a vets which means I enjoy seening my boy every morning and evening.
I broke my femur in the summer after never seriously hurting myself b4 and now have a rod in my femur, I recovered very well and was back riding in no time. But my aim is to get back competing in the spring after a long time off.
I have 2dogs a gsp and boxer who loved the the yard but equally love a cuddle.
p.s not a great speller so aplogies

Hi! I'm 25, in my last year of uni studying Pharmacy at Cardiff Uni. Have a bay TB (xID but you wouldn't think it!) mare called Megan aka MegaBeast thanks to my nickname being Beastie (long story) who I've been eventing - we did our first Intro in October having had her a year. She's my first horse having spent several years prior to this exercising Team Chasers for one of the top Open teams

Hiya. Im a newbie aswell.I'm 17 and at college going doing my level 3 in childcare.I own one horse called Maggie who has thought to have driven and still rather green but with a brilliant temperment that has been baught by my Dad for me to bring on and for my Dad's partner to learn on.However, finding time between work and college to school her is finding to be quite hard as we don't have a school.I also have a dog called alfie ,two cats called izzy and diglet and 2 hamsters called benji and missy.

Lots of people from Wales here, including me! I live on the Pembrokeshire/Carmarthenshire border on a smallholding which me and my OH and my mum and dad bought half each, there are two houses there. Works brilliantly for them to look after my 4 yr old son while i do the horses and other animals. We have 2 great danes, 2 chocolate labs, 2 cats, 2 chickens (fox had 3 on friday 13th) 2yearlings (warmblood and anglo arab) and a section a pony. I work for an equine college teaching disabled people to ride. Oh and i'm 27 although most of the time i cannot pass as an 18 yr old! I get asked ID for buying wine all the time!

I like this thread! I'm Kat, 23 currently living and working in Angus, Scotland. I've just started working with horses thanks to a chance work experience placement I got from this forum! While I was there I met the lady I now work for (who is related to a certain H+H dressage columnist). I don't have my own horse at the moment but I had a pony and then a horse. I originally wanted a career in academia and did a Classics degree. At the moment I'm working and training towards climbing the BHS instructor exams ladder (at the very bottom for the now...:S) I'm so happy to be working with horses, it never feels like a chore. It's especially great at the moment because we now have two 2 year olds that my boss has bought to back and produce as well as our liveries. Love my job!

Hi, I'm Beth.

I'm 25yrs old. I live in Lancashire with my OH. I work in Optics as a Dispensing Assistant, have just started management training & I really like my job.
smirk.gif

I have a 16.1hh, ex-racer called Chilli Boy. He's on DIY livery at a large local competition yard. I've owned him for 2yrs now & we've spent the last year BSJAing fairly unsuccessfully.
tongue.gif
We're not competing at the moment due to me being too skint to renew our BSJA membership & too lazy to actually bother leaving the yard. I get a bit lazy & demotivated over winter.
blush.gif
We're using our 'time off' as an excuse to brush up our flatwork & will probably have a go at some dressage tests next year. I would like to event but I don't think I'm brave enough to go XC.
blush.gif

I'm a massive Kylie fan, like Gossip Girl & LOST, enjoy going out (especially if there's alcohol involved) & own a Landrover Discovery called Nelson who I passed my trailer test in in January.
grin.gif

It's lovely to 'meet' you all.

This feels like some kind of therapy meeting.
I'm Beccy, I have a small livery yard near Rye in East Sussex. I have a young friesian gelding who I have had since a baby, and a showjumper warmblood mare (for loan/share).
I live with my OH on the yard with our crazy poodle cross border terrier Heffner and lots of outdoor cats, a few sheep, a rabbit and some ducks!
I'm just starting to get my friesian fit and ready for summer, it will be his first time at everything, he is still very green and very novice. He takes up most my time so warmblood mare is looking for someone to ride and compete her as I run the yard myself and have very little free time.
Nice to meet you

)
I share 2 horses ( the chestnut and grey in my sig) and im on the look out for a horse of my own too ( I love my OH!!)

aregona, you mean you haven't named him allready?! Poor Disco.
frown.gif
Name him now, treat him to a wash & apologise & I'm sure he'll be fine in no time.
tongue.gif

Seriously tho, I hope yours is o.k. Mine is an old R-reg diesel & he doesn't like the cold & can take a minute or two to start but other than that he's quite a tough old thing. I do have a really good mechanic who's worked on Landrovers for donkeys years who is worth his weight in gold. Maybe he'd like a winter holiday to Swansea.

My name is Emily and I'm 20 (21 in a month)
Have been riding since I was 10 and am currently horseless due to being a poor student
frown.gif
am currently trying to decide whether I take up riding lessons or find me a horsey to ride for the summer

Hi, aregona!

I am nearly 33, I live in Tewkesbury, I have two children, a girl and a boy aged four and nearly two. I am a stay at home mother and my husband is an agricultural contractor.

I had my first pony when I was 18 months. I have only ever competed unaffiliated and RC. I have done SJ, XC, a little showing and dressage, team chasing and hunting with fox and bloodhounds. I did a hunt race once, it was the best thing I have ever done on a horse!

I have a 15.3 ID liver chestnut gelding named Bruce who is no longer able to hunt and compete due to a heart problem.
frown.gif
I also have a secB mare named Curly and two guinea pigs.

I also drive an un-named Disco and I love Queen!

I live in Aberdeenshire, and am a uni lecturer. I had to give up riding for uni, and started again regularly about 2 years ago after 10 years off. About a year ago, I was offered a loan pony to bring back into work and bring on. I bought him a few months later. He's a 14.1 bright bay random native X, who is very sweet but prone to losing his head on occasion. We think he's 8yo, but he's still rather green. We do local dressage, and I tried an endurance ride with him last spring, which he really seemed to take to. He's very very very worried about jumping, so we're taking things really slow in that respect.

I have two cats: a very friendly, absolutely enormous long-haired tabby, and a sleek black cat who is pretty much feral, and likes only the tabby cat.

I am also capable of killing a cactus through mismanagement!
tongue.gif

I'm 46, have one 14.1hh native type (Heinz 57 variety!), owned him for 5 years. Got back into horses with him after about a 25 year break, originally rode from age 8-15.

Lack of money prevents us from doing much but have done some local shows, tiny bit of dressage, couple of showjumping classes and have lessons as and when I can.

Currently live alone. I'm temping as a secretary at the moment though really hope to be back in more consistent and better paid work come the Spring!
