Yesterday i went to check the horses, it was their day off so just went into the stables to get there headcollars and wandered down the field to check them. However, when i was in the stable i noticed two pony poos on the bedding, definately little pony poolets, not like my 2 x 17.1's elephant poo's. I always muck out after i've ridden/stabled them. Mine only come in for when i ride them as my mare eats the straw and colics so I have to keep the bedding slightly dirty, and i have to mix it with new straw to stop her eating it. So I asked a couple of people if they'd seen a pony in my stable as i have pony poo left behind, no-one had any knowledge!

If someone had asked me if they could borrow my stable (everyone knows i keep mine out unless its horrific weather) I would of said yes, but i'd expect it to be mucked out after and my haynets to be put back in/re-filled so it was as it was.

I think it annoys me that whoever it was didnt ask, it wasnt mucked out after and as the weather was borderline horrific there was a high chance i could of brought mine in and then what would i of done with the intruding pony?! I'd assume the pony in question doesnt have its own stable (which a few dont)

Would you be annoyed if it was your stable?

Well yes, I think I'd be a little bit miffed, but not majorly if this has just happened the once; would be more annoyed if someone is making a habit of it.

From what you say about ponies not all having their own boxes, I'd guess whoever it was just took advantage, on the spur of the moment, of somewhere dry to get ready for a ride.

Maybe you weren't around to be asked? having said that, they really should have cleaned up afterwards.

Yes. If they don't pay for a stable then they don't get to use mine for free. Obviously an injured/ill horse is different, but even then I'd expect it left as they found it & to be told afterwards.

Yes I would be annoyed, unless there is any chance the pony could have escaped from somewhere and gone into your stable by itself without their owner knowing? Is there someone on your yard who you think could be responsible?

Well theres only really 3 ponies it could be, and none of the girls are saying it was them. They all know i'd happily let them use it is they ask but not to ask me annoys me. I asked them all in a nice way as i wasnt massively fussed but wondered who it was, but now i'm annoyed as none of them say it was them.

Theres no way the pony could of got in there itself as its a stable with a pen as well and the gate is always kept shut. I think its been an overnight stayer as a whole hay net was eaten too.

Most people have my number and would text me to ask if it was ok, or to at least say 'hope you dont mind, just popped pony in your stable because.....blah blah blah'

I'll just start stopping people from using it at all if it's taken advantage of as like you say, i pay for it.

I'd be really cross. My YM has used my stable in the past usually after asking but I think on one occasion she couldn't get hold of me but knew I wouldn't mind. However she always mucks it straight out and leaves it exactly the way she found it.

This, my YO is a good friend and she has full permission to use my stable if it is not needed but it is always left immaculate, filled haynets, clean water etc and my horse never has to go without it if he needs to come in.

I would be very cross if someone used it without permission and left it dirty. One time I got back when afternoon yards were being done (had finifshed work early), pony had been evicted but it hadn't been mucked out yet, my friend was mortified even though she knew had I been there at normal time my lad would have been waiting for me in a clean stable. Very bad manners!

Sorry also on a side note as my new boy eats his straw too a friend suggested spraying it with flyspray and it seems to have stopped him eating it :)

I'd be annoyed about the stable being left mucky and the haynet eaten.
I'd ask the YO who put the pony in there, surely s/he will know which pony it was.
