My friend text me on Monday night saying her little girl and younger brother really want to go horse riding and could they come up to the stables tomorrow.

I checked with the ponies owner and said yes but only for a shot on lead rein (the pony is not suitable for kids who can't ride)

Remembering I'm giving up my time as well, Tuesday comes and tried to get in touch with her and no answer. Didn't text or call, nothing.

So I've let down the ponies owner who was kind enough for someone they don't know to have a shot (and who can't ride!!!)

She has since apologised but I can't help feeling miffed as she is Non horsey and she doesn't get how nice it was of that ponies owners children to give up riding her on that day to be let down.

Yes, I would be annoyed. If she could text you to ask to ride, she could have just as easily text you to say that she wouldn't be coming.

Yes I would. Now let it go and lesson learnt. If she asks again just say no. Simple. I hate timewasters and I hate friends who cant even be bothered to text or call if plans change ... They tend not to stay friends for long. Life is too short!

Rude! manners cost nothing, I dont' see why they couldn't have rung or text as soon as they knew they couldn't make it.

Yes I'd be annoyed. Done now though so let it go but if she asked again, id say no and tell her why!

I would be furious, but I wouldn't have been asked in the first place. She'd have been sent to a riding school, private ponies aren't for muggles.

Like 9tails I wouldn't have agreed to do it either, I find it really rude when people think that I'm running a free riding school! I'm happy for people to come up for a visit but there's no way they are having a free jolly at my expense!
If they want to ride they can put their hands in their pockets like I have to, if she asks again ask her if you can have a free joy ride in her car.

From what you have said I would be really annoyed and I wouldn't agree to it again.

Did she give you a reason for not turning up?

I get annoyed when people don't show up or cancel at the last minute, always by text, full stop. These days it seems sending a last minute text excuses all sorts of things.

Thank you for the replies. Guess I just wanted to vent! I was mostly annoyed because it's not my pony and it's my relationship with the ponies owner that got her the free shot in the first place.

I will avoid in future, with anyone! I felt like I'd really let down the pony owner when she had been so kind.
