Would you be happy with this situation??

No way would I want other people having free access to my stable, especially when I wasn't at the yard.

If the YO isn't going to find somewhere else to store the other peoples belongings, I'd move and the sooner the better.

YO prob doesn't care if she moves, he's got 3 lots of money compared to 1 so that prob what he wants to happen. I can't stand conflict, you just want to enjoy your horse, think I'd look into moving if thats how you get treated

And as another poster has suggested, why don't the two of you just swap stables.[/QUOTE]

My be just me being pig headed but I would be loathed to swap stables as then they would just expect to get everything they wanted and why should your horse move out of his stable just because they have no manners!!

Tell YO that you do not want to have these people walking through your stable and he needs to get it sorted. ie shed portable storage.

As for them breaking your lock and dumping your tack on the floor go get a stronger lock remove all their stuff from tack room and dump it outside their stable if they say any thing just tell them Well you know how I feel now

If you can't sort this out then move

No definately would not be happy in fact i would be fuming

YO needs to provide them with somewhere to keep their tack, they need to go look for their manners!

I would suggest as other posters have tell YO to buy them a shed, a darn site cheaper than loosing you as a livery and under no circumstances would i be moving out of my stable either, unless, there is the option of leaving your current stable, with tack shed behind it empty! so nobody's horse is disturbed???

Hope you get it sorted :)

I'd be livid, all it takes is for them to spook the horse and it could end up injured or injuring them, your horse eating their food could have been fatal!

It's not the fact about sharing a room that would bother me, its the way they've gone about it and the fact they're having to go into the stable every time they want something and is not a good situation at all. I'd suggest they get a storage box and keep their stuff in that.

You are totally right to be unhappy about the situation - I wouldn't contemplate having people wandering through my horses stable to get to their storage especially as they have already shown themsleves to be complete A holes.

do you have anything in writing with the YO regarding the tack room?

From things I've heard recently (to do with someone I am glad I no longer have anything to do with long story) I would not be happy to share a tack room as things might go "missing". I would also be very unhappy them going through my stable.

Would not be happy about people walking in and out of my horses stable to get their things. If I wasn't happy I would look to move. Would explain your reasons for you being unhappy with the yard owner and if a solution can not be found, would hand in my notice.

First I am takin the cookies & hot chocolate with cream...thanks...delish.:)
Ok... I read your post and was basically doin ok until I read the bit about the smashed padlock.
Move your beast.
I can tell you there will be no reasoning with padlock smashers, that is why they smash padlocks.
If your YO allows this sort of thing to happen on his/her property, he/she is not acceptable either.
Sorry to have been a bit of a party pooper, but you will have no peace of mind until you move.
Am sending you Ferrero Rocher as some comfort.
Best of luck
Bryndu.

I don't mind sharing as a rule, but padlock smashers -no respect get the hell out of there asap!
normal sharers are fine but anyone who would smash a padlock has no boundaries or respect.

Thanks for all the replies, glad to hear its not me being funny about it all & I have a reson to be venting :o

I had a word with the ladies & asked about swapping stables & guess what......they said no because they didnt want me walking through on there horse !!!! I was livid at that point because i thought its ok for you to do it to me though!!

Each day I am finding that my stuff is being moved as they keep moving my stuff & dumping it in the corner-just fed up now. I am finding Blackie's behaviour is becoming a bit erratic now as well & I think this is having some kind of effect on him.

I went to the YO yesterday & said that I will be leaving, will hopefully be gone by the weekend as I cant put up with it anymore. He said he couldnt afford to lose me so is finding somewhere for there stuff as we speak. So hopefully when I get up there tonight there stuff will be gone, otherwise I will be going at the weekend!

Thanks for the support guys xx

glad you got this sorted - i would have been Livid!

tack etc costs meg bucks and is NOT for chucking on the floor!

and as for the people - if they are capable of smashing locks, imagine what other dis-respectable behaviour they could do!

I wouldn't have strangers marching through my horses stables to get to their stuff, absolutely no way. Especially if they are carrying feed buckets through etc. Who is to say they won't wallop him if he tries to eat any (which most horses naturally would).

Their attitude stinks from what you have posted.

Sorry to say it but I'd be on the lookout to move, this would be completely unacceptable to me.

Ditto that.

Glad the YO stepped up and took responsibility, but I'd keep an eye out for a new place anyway, just in case these women (definitely not ladies) continue to be a law unto themselves. And judging by what they've done so far, they're more than capable of being nightmare neighbours for the indefinite future.

I've not read the replies but....

my 1st pony, he had his tack/feed room at the back of his stable and no-way would we have allowed someone to share it and have to go through his box!

I am also a YO.... they shouldnt be taking on extra liveries if they havent got enough storage space!
we were running low on space so bought a portacabin. Can you suggest to your YO that they maybe buy a shed or something for this new person to keep their stuff in? or maybe find a cheap portacabin local to you on ebay? (i got mine from there, 2 cabins that are 12x24... i paid something like 200 each for them!)

Well I'm sorry to say but me and my horse would be outta there regardless of YO 'now' going to do something as he can't afford to loose you....tuff they smashed your lock off...making your horse upset and changing his behaviour not a chance in hell would I be staying....they may still keep causing you grief....as you say you want to enjoy your horse....then MOVE!

I'd move, not sure I could cope with a tack room where the only access to it is through your horses stable, may of worked very well when it was just you but surely your YO can't expect that sort of carry on, it's wrong on every level.

It's a shame that you have to move though and be driven out by these other people, surely they must thing it's a rum carry on having to go through someone elses stable, not only that put your horse could of killed it's self having access to bins full of food, its too dangerous to risk having other people using that room.

I'd be telling the YO it's either them or me, surely the YO could come to some sort of arrangement to keep everyone there and happy?

Absolutely no way Jo, firstly they should have not have touched any of your stuff and secondly I'd not be happy with them going in and out of my stables whilst my horse was in there.
I'd get Blackie out of there. Come and move to mine :-)
