WWYD?

Depends what you paid for it.

If its a 'brand new' off someone who has had it sitting around for ages & sold it cheap, I wouldn't be fussed. If it was from a shop at a shop price I'd be sending it back xx

brand new and wasnt that cheap:( thanks tinap

Cheap brass fitting rather than high quality, I would sent it straight back personally ................ High quality brass doesn't "peel off" !!!!!

send it back. i got a really nice cheap leather headcoller from hope valley saddlery and its been used daily fro about a year and the brass buckles are as good as new...it only cost about £26 and i think that included p & p...so yours is not good...

I would take it back. Not only is the buckle not high quality brass, the leather looks Indian.

I must admit to thinking the same and said so to my OH, but didn't want to offend by posting it if OP had had it described as high quality :-/
Glad it wasn't just me that thought it sorry OP !!

thanks all, its been sent back for a refund. The company however were quite adamant i was in the wrong and even having sent them the pics they could see no problem. They are refunding my money as a goodwill gesture.

Quick update. I did get a full refund which was great and Im glad I did as I bought elsewhere and got a much nicer headcollar for a similar price. However the first one was bought on via ebay and I left neutral feedback. I felt negative was too harsh as they did refund me, after a ‘dispute’. However I felt had I seen other comments about the quality then I would have thought twice about buying one myself. The feedback they have on these is only good! I wasn’t unfair in what I said, just that i was disappointed with quality but sellers communications were good and they had refunded in full. Anyway, Ive now had a long message from the seller complaining about my feedback, saying it’s damaging and how upset they are and still claiming there was nothing wrong with it. Now Im feeling a bit rotten, do you think I should just remove it? (if I can?)

No I wouldn't remove the feedback. It's true a neutral feedback is as damaging to the sellers reputation as a negative feedback (it will affect their percentage, and how high up the page their listing shows when the default "best match" setting is used for searches). But its their own fault for misrepresenting their product! FYI good quality leather on eBay is generally described as "english" (if it is) or by a recognised decent brand name, Indian leather is generally described as "quality" , "best quality" or "good quality".

I wouldn't remove it either. Feedback is supposed to help others make an informed decision. If the seller describes something as having high quality brass buckles, then it should have them.
The only thing damaging their reputation is the product itself.

FWIW, I was once offered £20 by a seller to remove neutral feedback after a particularly bad experience on Ebay. I declined the bribe and left the feedback.

ok thank you all, was just feeling a bit ‘bah humbug’ and hate to think Ive genuinely upset anyone but I did think it was a fair feedback at the time.

FWIW I got a lovely one from Old Mill Saddlery for £30!! Lovely soft leather and nice quality brass fittings too ;)

Well its always best leave feedback for a month after purchase with some items to make sure it doesn't fail or break. Then you have time to get the seller to rectify the problem . This is what I do now, Neutral feedback was fair in this instance. Negative as you say would be harsh since they refunded you, Ebay would not remove it in these circumstances. Positive is only left normally if transaction went without a glitch.

Should I leave neutral or negative Feedback for a seller?

Feedback comments become a permanent part of a seller’s record. If you are a buyer, contact your seller to try to resolve any issues before leaving neutral or negative Feedback. Please make sure that your comments are fair, based in fact, and relate to the specific transaction for which you received the Feedback request.

I think you're quite justified, OP. I somehow acquired a cheao Indian leather headcollar (no idea where from, as I found it during a clear out) and the buckle and quality looked very similar to yours. Definitely not English leather and not brass either, so I think you're quite justified (and even generous!).

That's the problem with ebay, everyone is obsessed with feedback and tend to leave good feedback even if it's rubbish. This was not what you ordered or expected it was very bad quality, don't worry about the feedback you left it was correct and honest.
