I am feeling sooo annoyed yet again with a lady that I "teach". She keeps her horse wilth me on livery and has done for years now. She books a lesson every now and then, not regularly like I would encourage. Yet she always always cancels at the last minute!

Got a text late last night "Can we re-schedule lesson and would you put *** out for me in the morning", no please or thankyou, or sorry for the let down yet again! Ive had enough of being let down with no apology!

Am I over reacting? Had a conversation with mum about it this morning and she said "You've got to give and take" WTF? Thats all I do with all of my liveries and I get NOTHING back!!! Sorry for the rant I am thoroughly miffed with this person who seems to think I sit around and wait for the next demand! What do you think?

Stop being a doormat! Put a notice up about your lessons stating 24 hours cancellation notice must be given, all lessons paid for in advance and no refunds.
At least then it is their loss if they cancel

Thankyou glad im not over reacting! I have never charged for extras like turning out at short notice, Ive always done it as a favour. Its only a small yard and we help each other out. But ive had enough of her taking advantage and today have left a note for her of how much she owes me for turning out her horse. I am alot younger than her and to be honest I think this is some of the reason why she shows me ZERO respect! Im going to suggest she finds an alternative instructor too because it really makes me mad when she continually lets me down!!

Whoo don't hold back!!! Haha your bloody right though ive had enough they are all p**s takers! Going to make a sign right now!!

Yes, i'd be a bit mad. unfortunately there are two kinds of people, givers and takers... if you're a giver, and she's a taker, you're up against it.
i gave up on liveries after a few years of this... once they learnt that i felt sorry for their horses, left in filthy stables till 3pm in some cases, and would feed, water, turn out and even muck out if they didn't turn up... guess what. they tended to not turn up, for days sometimes. this on d.i.y. livery.

if her custom is valuable to you, keep quiet and put up with it. maybe next time she schedules a lesson say something along the lines of "i hope you're not going to cancel this one at the last minute... i really can do without it again" or something.
if you don't really need her there, tell her how annoying you found it, but be prepared for her to flounce off with her horse, i'd say. past efforts and favours don't count for anything sometimes.

To be honest at the moment I don't care if she comes or goes! I learnt early on from doing this job, that some liveries aren't worth worrying about and that were better off without them on the yard! The job is hard enough without being made to feel like im at her beck and call! It doesn't get you anywhere being nice all the time they just see you as bloody muggins who won't say NO!!

exactly... that was the position i was in. if you're seething, i'd maybe write down in a letter exactly why you feel put out, and leave it in the tackroom for her... or write it down, read it, then burn it... at least gets it out of your system!
liveries really can take the p*** at times. good luck.

Thanks for your advice. I feel better for just writing out the notice and telling myself I will stick to it and charge for my extra services haha. Ive been too bloody soft!
