having ridden at several different RS and so in a number of elderly saddles over the years I have never seen one with creases in. I have no idea why that would happen but I wouldn't touch it. I'd be worried it was a sign of some deeper problem with the structure of the saddle itself. That's not a place the saddle should be flexing surely?
thats what I thought but the seller says its just "cosmetic"?
I was always informed if there was creasing it was always down to some damage to the tree, however I found out the other day there is nothing like a "broken tree"! The only thing is is that the bars on the tree have worked loose and need tightening. This came from my saddler who in all his years of being a pro saddle fitter he has never come across a broken tree! - I said its because all the experts out there have thrown them all in the bin before he gets to see them
Check to see if the tree is ok (ask first if it's spring or rigid). A lot of saddles expire when rolled on by their lardy wearer....I've never seen one with creases that didn't have a broken tree.

I can assure you, there IS such a thing as a broken tree - I have seen them in many stripped down saddles. Although the seller says the tree is sound, I would advise extreme caution!!
