Would you buy a horse called.........

I vote for Dev.
My new one is called Star which is a bit tacky but actually he is a star so far at any rate, so I'm not changing it. I did have one once called Colin, which seemed to amuse my friends...

I remember him from the yard I used to work in - little chestnut with a white blaze?? Wish I could tell you his stable name before he was named but I don't think it could be printed on here!! He was a bit of a monkey to say the least but very sweet - I worked there when he raced as a 2 year old - he was pretty rubbish on the flat but the first time he loose schooled - wow!! Hope you have lots of fun with him!

Yes, I don't give a hoot what name they have.

I bought one called "Useless" many years ago, he certainly didn't live up to his name;)

Not the worst label I've ever heard of by far.

Enjoy him.

Call him Nevil that will really put people off!:D:D:D:D
.

Did you not see the final Harry Potter? -swoon- :D

& The name wouldn't really put me off.. I had one called Feelal (pronounced Feela) Which a lot of my friends used to chuckle at but I just always introduced her as Fee..partly cause im lazy and always shorten my names..Harls..Chalk..Fee  so i'd probably shorten to Dev or invent some totally un-related nickname like I sometimes do..I call out Thoroughbred filly Twiggs, when her real name is Milly :p Harley is known to me as Pops because when he was little he used to be grazing then he'd suddenly 'pop' forward and gallop around for a bit :D

I used to know a horse called Dante - which i think also means devil, it was a really sweet pony!

the best horse I have ever ridden was called Shambles!

I like it.
I had a pony called Angel when I was younger, she was an absolute cow, had me off at every chance she got, and was aptly nicknamed Devil, I am convinced she was only such a monkey because her breeders called her Angel!

I do own a horse called 'Lucifer'......

When I called to enquire, I was told he was called Louie, so never thought much more about it. The owner said that he didn't tell me his full name in case I got put off!

Also we viewed him in October and picked him up on Halloween!!!

When looking for my last horse I tried a 'Betty Spaghetti' and a 'Benjamin Spotty Botty' ! I have to admit that I wasn't exactly overjoyed with the names but did reckon I could get the price down enough to pay for the name change!lol

Yeah that's him, lol. Must day he must have mellowed with age as in the school today he was sweet as pie, after a teeny mini rearing incident at first, soon figured his rider wasn't taking any ****e and worked lovely. Really easy uncomplicated ride. Even popped him over a fence. Who did you work for?

Well, I'm slightly jealous of this. I want a horse called Fany ;).

I would definitely second Beelzebub but I have dubious taste in names. Past animals include:

Spab
Modgebee

and

The Bubba Machine

:D
She doesn't stop trying to turn for home when out on hacks and you can have her!
However, be prepared for jokes about wet fanys, dirty Fanys, shaved (clipped) Fanys etc, etc. from any adult men around, most usually Yo and farrier, with extremely adolescent sense of humour!

I can imagine ;). Puts me in mind of when I was a youngun, pottering around on my pony and a horrible bunch of lads shouted, "Oi, did you know how big that thing is between your legs?". I didn't know what they meant. It was around that time that I asked my Dad what it meant if you dressed to the right or the left and he said, in mortified horror, "I don't know." ;)

He has a very good reason for being called Deveil - it's his name. If his proper name had nothing to do with it then I would be wary but I wouldn't be put off.

We had a horse called Killer in the yard - he was far, FAR from it! He went eventing and when he was there they changed his stable name to King but he still evented under Killer.

Some great ideas and advice guys, think I'm going to stick with it, i'll just refer to him as dev until someone's fallen for him, then I can reveal his full name......lol. He'll probably get called something else anyway. My section d is called Rio but gets refered to as Ferdie (there's logic in there somewhere)

A lady at my yard has an elderly TB who has the freezemark 666!! Luckily she rode him for years in a riding school before she bought him so she knew he was the opposite and a total angel!
