Seller has stated in the Ad that horse has a cople of warts hence price. I've known horses to have warts and treated them with the usual humane stuff (Wartner,Bazuka) etc and they went. What are your thoughts...!

Depends what you mean by 'warts'.

I'd buy a horse with juvenile warts, which are normally found on the muzzle of youngsters and will usually drop off of their own accord after a few months.

Any other suspect skin growths, no I wouldn't buy, certainly not without seeking a vets opinion first.

When she says warts doesn't she mean sarcoids? Sarcoids wouldn't put me off if the horse ticked all the right boxes and my vet was happpy for me to go ahead. Wouldn't want to buy the horse though if they are were the tack touches.

I assume she doesn't mean ear plaques?

I would have them checked out by a vet first and if it was a genuinely good horse and the warts/skin growths wouldn't effect anything then no, they wouldn't put me off and I would be open to buying it :) xx

At 7 I suspect he's too old for juvenile warts, but don't quote me on that.

I would ask exactly where they are, how long they have been there. Depending on where they are, consider whether tack and/or rugs might interfere with them, rub them or aggravate them in any way. I'd also want a vets opinion as to what they are exactly.

I think it is dangerous to deride an undiagnosed lump as a 'wart' and assume that it is harmless. It could easily be a sarcoid which are unpredictable and can be very aggressive. I personally, would not want to take the risk and would hold out for a horse without potential health problems - there are plenty around. But thats just me. :)

My mare has a small wart (not sarcoid) on her face. It has never changed shape/size and causes no trouble as it isn't where her bridle goes. Most people don't even notice it, although the insurance company has informed me (when I first insured her) that it wasn't covered for removal even for cosmetic reasons! :P
