Would you buy a horse that.......

what kind of noise do you mean? Like a wheeze or puffing noise? Often that's classified as "roaring" there can be a number of reasons for this but unless you were looking for a light hack then I wouldn't buy it. A vetting should tell you but if it's making a noise like above it's likely to fail.

what sort of noise? do you mean in their breathing?

If you mean an inspiratory noise ie you can hear a thickness in their breathing - then no, I wouldn't buy - but I've never heard of a horse making a noise in walk and trot. Unless they have a viral infection and are full of mucus?

I also would like you to elaborate on what type of noise and where it is coming from.

My mare had a 'clicking' or 'crackling' sound in her shoulder when I looked at her and still does. I obviously bought her but only trail ride her lightly. I posted about it on here at the time and it amazed me how many peoples healthy horses in work did the same. The vet said it was nothing to really worry about and it has never caused her any problems

I had a mare who made a wind noise and she hunted up front with the best off them so I wasn't worried but would not buy one I was given her. But you need to be clearer on what kind off noise you can hear

Its definitely a breathing noise. Its a quiet noise but does get louder the more work she does. Ive not spoken to owner will do tomorrow but Ive made my mind up anyway.

In walk or trot, I would worry a lot! It can be quite common to here an inspiratory noise in canter, and can be down to stuffiness/unfitness. I would get the horse scoped before considering it. My mare made a noise when I tried her, but she was scoped and specifically inspeted for it when i brought her, with nothing of concern. She now makes no noise at all as she's got fitter :)

I would get it checked out at the vetting if I was certain that she was the horse for me.

My mare makes a noise when cantering/galloping..... she sort of 'high blows' or snorts with every stride..... vet has checked it out and fortunately, there is nothing to worry about....

Friend had a horse on loan with view to buy which made a noise, when she had her vetted, vet found that she had partial paralysis of the larynx (sp) and had to have an op to correct.....

Really like the horse, but its scared me off her really. My last horse did this turned out she had chronic COPD not roaring as we had previously thought. The search goes on........

Spoke to owner today and she said she's never had a problem with her breathing and its not a problem and that she'd be open to vet. Hmm still not sure what to do. Maybe view some more and see what I think compared to her?
