Just to add, I don't put anything on his legs, he lives out 24/7 and the field is very muddy at the moment and we are just starting our 4th winter together
Yes, my girl had a wee bit when I bought her, hasn't had it since. It's easily enough treated/managed and hopefully you could prevent it from making another appearance!
I got a 2 stage vetting for mine (2yo), the vet made a note of it but didn't fail her for it I guess it depends on how bad it is and if it's making horse lame at all?
He takes a slightly shorter stride with that leg, but it is quite bad. It really is a very slightly shorter stride. That much so only I can notice it! Got him on trial so I'm treating it but need to get him vetted next week if I'm going to keep him.
Yep
Mud fever
Awful teeth
Small lump on back
Needed vaccinations
No back shoes
A few issues with standing by a mounting block!
BUT passed the vet and 3 weeks later all of the above are sorted, he's a sweetie to handle, we're hacking alone and in company, enjoying our lessons, schooling nicely and doing our 1st dressage comp on the 14th. I've only jumped once since my last trip through the CT scanner but have asked one of the instructors to jump my new boy with a view to me maybe having a go myself.
No horse is perfect so I'd go with one who's faults are fixable! (and my boys mudfever has settled very easily with a bit of TLC)
