Basically, would you consider buying a sway backed horse?
Even if it has been assessed by a vet and back person as being sound and not affecting it in anyway.
I know alot of people are just put off by asthetics....

Interested to know your thoughts
 
No. There are plenty of horses with good conformation out there. I would however consider a horse with a slight roach back as long as it wasn't for showing and it was wonderful in every other way.
 
Nope. I know swayback is genetic (as opposed to through work) but still no. Why?

We have a frisian stallion with a swayed back and he is mainly driven but when nobody can excercise him i ride him and he is really comfy but you just have to put thick numnahs on to make sure it is comfy for him because the saddle may not fit properly for the shape of him back but yeah i would go for it because there is no problem with them they just dont look to nice buti think personality is more imprtant than looks :) xx
 
Depends on the severity I suppose.....

My old horse had a slight sway back - I didn't even notice it until I had him vetted, he had been out of work for a while so just thought he was lacking top line!

He was the most comfortable hack and hunter, and jumped like a stag. It did take a while to find a saddle to fit, but other than that never caused any issues.

His temperament was second to none and looked after me, so despite not being conformationally perfect, he was perfect in every other way.
