We have just had The Great Chart Happy Hack, which we do for Kent Air Ambulance. I have a photographer there every year, taking pictures of riders jumping, and hacking.
I have had an idea, but not sure if it would work. I am thinking of putting 12 of the pics taken onto a calenmder, and selling it next year at the ride. I know if my pic was in a calender I would buy it, but would anyone else???

The idea is great. The only downside is that it really is the wrong time of year to be selling a calendar.. if it were me I would lose it before it was time to use it!

Possibly advertise it at next years ride and take orders, sending it out in December so people can use it as a present?

This is probably a better idea as another downside is that the 12 photos you choose to use may be of people that do not go to the next ride.

Yes I would and I would buy 3 or 4 for family too. Make sure you market it as a great Xmas filla pressie for family. If the photographer takes 'group shots' of riders together then the sales audience widens immensely :)

Hmmm, I have permission from the photographer to use his pictures, would I need to ask the people who are in the pictures if they agree?

not sure if im right, but my mother is a photographer, and before she uses pics she has taken, web site etc, she gets people in them, or guardian if under 16, to sign something saying they allow her to use them, not sure if you HAVE to do it though :)

Hi Benson21,
I worked with a photographer for a year on a bridleways calender and it was printed just in time for the group's AGM in November 2011 in time for Xmas presents. You will need to get a Model Release Agreement done by everyone. I think I did about 14 venues over 3,000 images where taken and only picked 13 pictures by the deciding committee for the calendar. If you need any info/help then we can have a chat on the phone. Money raised also went to the Sussex Air Ambulance

Oh Good God, its almost more than my technical abilities can take to put one picture on, let alone additionals!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D But yes, I guess I could try......might take until next christmas though!!!!!!!!!!

Bloody hell, this is harder than I thought!!! I am now sifting through all the pictures taken in the last 2 years, trying to choose just 12!! if anyone wants to help (PLEASE!!!I cannot make a decision!!) the pics are on www.photoevents.org.uk under equestrian 2012 and 2011, then Great Chart Happy Hack. Thanks!!x

The collage idea sounds a good one, lots more people in the calendar hopefully might mean more people would buy one because theyre in it :D

No, I wouldnt buy one, I dont like to use wall calendars.

ah my friends just did this! I couldnt yet as new boy isnt quite fit enough yet! Your around the same area as me then!
Yes I probably would buy one :)

Which photos are you in on the website?? :)

Benson21 - some fab pictures. May I suggest that the photographer creates a closed facebook page for better viewing for you.

I expect these images are all low resolution and you will need for find out if people have their eyes shut or pulling faces etc! Some expressions are fab though.

The more riders/walkers (out enjoying their hack) in the photos the more you will sell. Different backdrops is always useful. If the rider is wearing a chair on her head or something else then the photographer should be able to edit these problems out. You will need to decide on size of the calendar first and the size of the photo used as they can appear different when enlarged. You will need to look at printing costs including P&P and what you will sell the calendar for.

I hope this helps. Have fun and good luck.
