Horse over-reached last week and it went a bit pussey (sp?) then some swelling in lower leg and some heat in hoof. Swelling now almost all gone. Hoof same temp as other 3. Hosing twice a day. Had antibiotic injection.

Kept clean and dry and now cut has a good scab on it and most of the swelling has gone. Hoof is same temp as other 3. Horse is not lame at all. Has only been walked out in hand for exercise, but has been turned out in dry mudless field for a few hours each day.

Should be going to a hunter trial tomorrow. Would you go if not quite all the swelling has gone? Even though not lame at all? I will decide for definate in the morning by which time the last of that swelling may have gone completely. Planned to perhaps put some vetwrap around his 'ankle' and then the over-reach boot over the top of that.

What do you think?

I personally wouldn't as a bit of a softy that way.Think there's always other shows if you knacker horses legs well no horse all for one show. Not that I'm being negative or anything lol!!
You may go and nothing will happen

Probably wouldnt, esp if horse hasnt been worked at all since over reaching.
Theres always another day :)

Thanks everyone - you have confirmed what I thought really - just needed the push to make the decision not to go! Daughter can still take her pony in one of the classes though, but will withdraw the horse from his class.
