As title really...

Would you consider a horse which has been diagnosed with sidebones, but has apparently never had a problem caused by them?

Or is it too much risk?

(intended uses, hacking, schooling, hunting)

Thanks guys, that's what i thought! But seller is saying has evented and has potential to go further :eek:I thought this was a little optimistic, but i've not had any personal experience with sidebone, so wondered if i was being overly cautious... will walk away!

My personal experience was horse diagnosed in July, rated on a scale of 3/10 severity. Given every treatment possible with a prognosis of 5 years but had to be euthanised 6 months later. Turned out to be a very rapid deterioration and very unlucky.

My horse has side bones, we only realised they were there when she went in for something else and the X-ray picked it up!
It's difficult for me to judge as my horse also has ringbone BUT the vet gave me a very bleak prognosis... Minimal work, virtually retirement. I went against the vets advice as she isnt one to sit in a field and she has been sound ever since :) I have no problems with them at all!
But we only walk on hard or deep surfaces just as it isn't something to risk really!
I took my mare on a lovely 1 hour 15 minute ride this morning as had a nice trot in some fields and she couldn't be happier :)

Also to add, my vet now tells me to work her more and stop being so soft with her as he has agreed she is sooooo much better with the work :)
