First of all - Hello!

New on here: long time lurker, first time poster.

I have been riding since I was knee high to a grasshopper, but have never actually owned my own horse. There always seems to be a reason why now is not the right time, but then, isn't there always?

Anyway, as a confirmed window shopper who is thinking of actually plucking up the courage to go into the shop - what would be your opinions of a youngish horse who had been diagnosed and treated for changes to the coffin joint? Currently sound for a year or so in heart bars.

Plus what would it mean for insurance if something occurred later on?

Thank you!

For your first and main horse I wouldn't take the risk carried with any issues. If you had several horses itd be less of a gamble!

The horse would have to be free for me to even consider it and even then I think I'd walk away.

You wouldn't be able to get any insurance cover for it as it's a pre existing condition.

Thank you for your replies.

That is pretty much how I felt about it but I was curious to know others opinions - probably should have made that clear before! He is a lovely looking horse and definitely a case of heart saying 'want!' and head saying 'whoa there, not a chance!'

Still rather in the window shopping phase but if the right horse came along I might take the plunge.
