Definitely cut it! When I was in the show world, the tail should hang 4 inches below the hock.

Leaving it long makes your horse look like a gypsy cob! He looks much smarter in the second photo

I read a while ago somewhere that if you wrap the tail around the inside of one their legs and bring it back to their hock, this is where it should be "cut." OR put an arm under then top of the tail then chop it where you think looks/is best. I just trim it so its npot too long/too short.

My friends' horse had a tail just skimming the floor, nice tail but not when it gets caked in mud and poo!

I have a phobia of cutting it though..... i would hate it if it was too short coz he carries it high....

The last pic is where I shut my eyes and went for it last year......... I nearly died when I saw how short it was, but actually from the replies on here, it seems that it is normal!!!

nononono look at mine in my siggy, its in his loan agreement (moving to new yard today...so nervous) that it must NOT be cut!! nor his mane nor his feathers!! thankfully the loanee is in full agreement (kind of helped her win him)
