Would you/do you let other people ride your horse?

Well pickle is on RS working livery so is obviously ridden by a fair few people

Weekdays there is someone that adores him and books to ride him at least twice

then the weekend- my dad uses him in the RS in the morning
on saturdays. Then sundays he is usually used in the adult lesson, then again in the less advanced kids lessons for taller teenagers, he is also used to jumping lessons for those less confident.

Pickle is literally anyones ride though, allthough in flatwork if you are not firm with him he will cut corners etc, allthough to be honest never causes any problems just teaches people to actually ride there corners instead of just sitting there!

I like to see how someone rides first but generally I am not precious about others riding my mare as long as I am around. My novice friend came down and rode her yesterday and had a great time out on the road and cantering around the school.
I would only be unhappy if a rider was harsh with their hands or blamed the horse for their own shortcomings and fortunately I have never had to let such a rider near her. I have taught her everything she knows so far but I am willing to admit I would like a better rider than me get on and teach her flying changes!

i let people ride tups as she is fine with most people and i trust her
shantih-i let a very select few sit on her and most said never again.shes very stressy and in tune with me and got very upset!lol.
bey would be ok with most i think as she loves anyone(when shes finally ridden shes 13 months)
storm would be ok with anyone he is a nice boy

Yup, am happy for people i know & trust not to do any damage to do as they wish on mine i.e. hack, jump or school. as she is up for loan, it does me a favour as it gets her used to other riders.

During the first year I had Fudge he had several sharers, I wouldn't have another one as I feel he is more suited to being ridden by one person. I would consider having him professionally schooled as long as I was present. Due to my broken ribs I have reluctantly let an RI friend of mine hack him out on faster hacks (cantering and galloping) to hopefully help him become less bouncy. But I would be happy letting someone who is experienced and sympathetic ride him although he is green.
I let one other person ride Lady, my friends 12 year old daughter as I'm to heavy to jump her these days and she loves jumping. But they are always supervised by either myself or the girls mother who is my best friend and used to be an RI. Being a rescue pony I would only let someone who she knows and trusts ride her as she can still be very nervous & fizzy even after 10 years.
Both are quiet happy to let the little three year old I sometimes look after ride them on the leadrein and behave like little angels.

I am very fussy about who rides my horses !
I invest a lot of time, money, effort and emotion in them.
I am happy to let novice friends and their children "have a go" in the school with me there to keep things under contol.

Strangely people don't offer to school my stroppy cob, but expect me to lend my bombproof mare to a friend of a friend to do a sponsored ride on !

I will let some people I trust hack out on one of my horses with me, but even that can go wrong, my stepmother cantered my lovely mare into a barbed wire fence ! Why ? because she couldn't stop her and I had told her the mare wouldn't jump ! Yes the mare did stop, but with her leg through the wire and the stepmother did "jump" the fence ! Someone else makes a stupid mistake with your horse and its not them who picks up the vets bill and takes care of an injured horse on box rest.

I am lucky in that both mine are so forgiving and easy going they will take anyone, the bay will take ANYONE, he taught my complete novice OH to ride, never put a hoof wrong and is only 6 himself and still learning.

The black one is anyones ride in the school but will be VERY lazy, on a hack he is fine but can spook and take off with a nervous novice.

Im more protective over the bay and only 4 people have ridden him, he is my one in a million.

Bert used to be on working livery so has been ridden by plenty of people I don't know.

I am happy for anyone to ride him in the school but these days with hacking out I would be less inclined as he can buck a little and has been known to bolt, also joggs and has a temper on him. If it is someone that is un phased by those things hten I am more than happy to lend him out but do worry about un insured people riding him.

i dont like anyone else hacking my boy but like you im not a great fan of sj so im letting a girl do it as she loves him, she wanted to buy him before i did but couldnt get the money together so its the least i can do. he isnt actully jumping yet but im going to the local p/c to have jumping lessons so when he proves he can jump she can do it!! i want to do hunting and xc on him as i dont feel under pressure doing that.

i have a nother girl ride mine twice a week but he is a little so and so and will try it on with her and anyone else, puts his hed down bolts off and bucks and little rears. luckely he doesnt usely do it with me thank god he noes that he wont get a way with it. In the school its terrible he doesnt move a muscle tipickle pony really
