I wouldn't like to say if the person was dyslexic or not. To be honest it could have been written by several of my friends on facebook and none of them are dyslexic, they just all use text speak and can't be bothered to spell check etc. I don't have any friends in that area in case anyone thinks I'm linked to the ad though!
Bottom line though, she isn't asking for paid employment, she's offering help for nothing, not even rides! Cut her some slack and give her a chance. At least she isn't sat at home watching Mr Kyle and complaining about her lack of benefit money!
I really hope she finds someone who will give her a chance.
My Dyslexia is literally off some scales for assessing the condition. On a personal email that's painfully obvious, but because I understand how important presentation is to the rest of the world I installed a spell checker on my PC and spent years learning about organising my thoughts and basic punctuation. I use them on anything I expect the world to take seriously.
I wouldn't ever employ anyone who didn't understand that the majority of the world thinks spelling and punctuation is important. I'd wonder if they just didn't 'get' other things that are genuinely important. I think expecting the world to adapt to you is a sure fire way to be disappointed and, given that businesses expect you to adapt to them, fired.
I particularly wonder about people who write badly spelt racist comments on FB ect.
My pet hate number 2058 is people saying 'I'm dyslexic,' and thinking they should get special treatment. Dyslexia, like any other disability, means one has to work harder for the same results because its a big bad world and it values the full stop.
I can understand some peoples opinions on here, using a version of text speak and abbreviations to advertise your services doesn't seem professional.... But... she is offering her help for free and may be a lovely person who just loves horses?!

Nobody is a dyslexic. People have dyslexia or suffer from it. Calling them a dyslexic is a bit like calling someone a disabled![]()
OP have you contacted the girl? Do let us know if she was lovely with difficulties or simply inept and lazy
All of us do-gooders will look silly if she turns out to be an awful yard worker prospect who just couldn't be arsed!![]()
As I said my nephew is dyslexic he is ok with this and any other description , such as suffers from dyslexia etc as he is not uptight because it has zero impact on his intellect or him as a person. Pls let's not get hung up on the label.
Mind you, I know some well educated people with excellent literacy skills who would also make awful yard workers.![]()

Its not snotty but unfortunately if someone doesn't take the trouble to get someone to proof read their add it makes you wonder if they're sloppy in the job.
Yes, learning difficulties or Dyslexia would also put me off employing them as busy yards with onerous health and safety requirements are hazadous places and anyone needing extra support I wouldn't have the time to devote to them.
If however I had a couple of horses privately then yes that would be fine.
Couldn't hold it in any longer. It is ad; an abbreviation of advertisement, not add. Many thanks![]()
Why would dyslexia put you off?
My boyfriend has a pretty bad case of it, he can't write to save his life, but his general life and practical skills are in no shape or form compromised? He's intelligent and wasn't horsey before I met him but depending on what we're both working, he often does my horse for me, including lunging, and he's a super competition groom.
I understand learning difficulties as I can see how some may be a problem around horses when they're meant to be able to work alone ect and take responsibilties, but not dyslexia?
How the heck has this turned into a debate about whether or not she's dyslexic? Crazy! What does it matter? And why has this conclusion has been leapt to? Ridiculous.
Keep up woman
Having just typed all of that I have pretty much realised that your question was probably rhetorical and you were remarking about how off topic it all has become - bummer.
Think I must have memory loss syndrome or something cos Billie didn't you have a view on the PC stuff
Agree it's off topic and a pain though so let's get to the point can this potentially lovely but inarticulate person muck out, turn out and ride a buck.... we may never know so give in.
I was the PC stuff, where did I say I wasn't? I was describing to CT how the thread had turned and admitted that we took it slightly off topic. I didn't complain about the PC element or deny that it was me who brought some PC comments in.......
Am I missing something?
No that's why my post had a wink in it chill
