Would you ever...*Rant

I have fed another horse feed- she was late and all other liveries were being fed their dinner- hers was the only one who wasnt and he started kicking the door and walking the box- so we fed him- we only took a handfull of chaff and a little bit of the cubes as he was likely to cause himself more harm by getting worked up. I can see why you might be annoyed - I prob would be - more for the fact perhaps I wanted to ride etc. However, they were not being malicious and it was only half a scoop of conditioning cubes which wont cause them any harm. I think perhaps just say thanks but ask them in future to just give them some chaff instead should the situation happen again.

Did they say why they fed your horses?

Is it the sort of yard where this happens otherwise?

Yes, you're possibly overreacting a bit, but if it's any consolation, I would have overreacted a lot more! I hate people interfering with my horse.
Regardless of whether half a scoop of cond cubes is going to do any damage, it's not on. I would definitely have a word with them and make it implicitly clear that it's not to happen again.
If they are experienced horse owners why did they take upon themselves to feed without knowing what normal feeds the horses have, or when? I think that beggars belief personally. If I thought a horse was desperately hungry and had to be fed I'd chuck it a section of hay, at a push - not feed it random amounts of hard feed?!

Yes I think you are over-reacting. No they shouldn't have fed your horses, but honestly, it's surely not a hanging offence? Keep things in perspective here; they didn't kill your horses, even if they had given them unsoaked sugar beet, they still wouldn't have killed your horses; they only gave them some nuts.

I think they were trying to do something nice for you - no wonder people don't bother to help anymore if this is the reaction they get

. I'd calmly speak to them and say thanks for helping however the horses both get different feeds and I like to feed them. I really can't see what will be solved by ranting and raving at them; far nicer to be friendly and a bit more chilled out.

I'm sorry that i am going to offend people, but no she is not over reacting!

She has bought and paid for her horse and therefore has sole rights to manage his food and lodging.

Put it a different way, how many people would climb into a fellow liveries car, rifle through their handbag for money, and then decide to take the car to the petrol station to fill it up cos the gas was low?????

You just wouldn't think of it!

The people that tend to think that this sort of thing is ok, are the sort of people who couldn't give a [****] about their own animal, and spend their lives on the phone convincing others to do their horse for them. they therefore see it as normal. 16 people look after their horse, so they are giving a little back by tinkering with everyone elses.

And there will be no persuading them otherwise.

I wouldn't dream of even titbitting others horses, although other liveries feed mine, even though he has chronic diarrhea. and if i ask them, oh sooo nicely to stop? then i'm a stuck up cow. Go figure!!!!!
