even if the horse was seemingly perfect and it had been vetted? or would word of mouth reputation put you off no matter what?

not particularly planning to do this just wondering
 
No- and I probably would not even go and look . I prefer to support an ethical business. Some of the things I have read on here make me so cross that if I knew for sure that a dealer was dishonest I would avoid them and give my business to a reputable dealer.

Have done frequently, but then I know exactly what I'm after and what I'm looking at, regardless of how the horse is described.
Not something I'd recommend doing if you're not sure though.
 
i live in the south east and we are plagued by so many 'bad' dealers. All of these reputations are through word of mouth but its hard to go on horsemart without seeing a lovely horse, clicking on the link and discovering its from bad dealer x 's yard:(
 
I have bought and taken a client to what people on here thought of as a dodgy dealer and the word bargepole was used among several others but the horses were fine the person was good to deal with and I had no problems and nor did my client.
 
brought my current horse form a "dodgy" dealers. I don't regret it, but its taken him a very long time to regain the weight and look healthy. ;)
 
Personally no. If people don't buy from dodgy dealers, especially if they have a history of mis selling or mistreating horses, they will hopefully go out of business.

Try NFED - they seem to have private sellers on there -not mostly dealers horses.
