My ex didn't buy my horse for me, but he tried to take it when we split. Lucky for me everything is in my name and he didn't legally have a leg to stand on. My vet even wrote a letter stating the horse was mine and he had treated it for the last three years.
I think we all should!
At that price he will go very quickly - poor girl if it is true - imagine how distraught she would be to come back from hols to find her horse sold!
me and my ex had a horse together. He tried to make me sell her, he was being such an arse, I agreed. Luckily she went lame (but i made it sound alot worse than it was), and he decided he didn't want to pay for any of her treatment (which was only for an absess), and signed her over to me
Can he legally do that?? After all, he has publicly stated in the ad that
A 'my ex girlfriends horse' and
B it was a 'birthday present'.
Since he has stated it is not his horse and the animal was a gift, shouldn't she call the cops if she comes home and the horse is sold?? By his own admission it is not his horse to sell!
If you read your passports it clearly states 'NOT PROOF OF OWNERSHIP'
I don't think morally this is right, and that legally as he gifted the animal to her, he has no ownership rights to it, although it could potentially be murky water...
There are two ways this guy could be a complete sh@t.
a) its true so he is a slimeball!
b) Its a con to make you think its a bargain horse so he is still a slimeball.
Years ago I bought a Dining Table 4 chairs and a China Cabinet off a very nice lady whose husband was to have a half share of everything in the house. He had run off after a younger model!!
I asked how much and got the lot for a Tenner and we were both smiling as I left.
I think its a con, as Flibble says it might be. I recognise that picture from another ad a few months ago. Blimey, if I'm right there are SO many cons about at the moment, trying to sell horses.
I don't know the legal system in the UK, but I know in the USA once the item is gifted you forfeit any rights of ownership to it (or at least that's what Judge Judy says!
) he has stated in the ad that the horse was a gift and that she is the one who uses the horse, he even siad 'my girlfriends horse'!! I think she could get him in some trouble if he goes ahead with a sale. What a slime
I should think this is just a fake advert from a pikey dealer. It is bound to make women rush off to save the poor horse.
My husband is not horsey, but he loves my horses and if anything happened to me, he would not sell either of them. He claims he would either learn to ride, or drive them !
My ex tried to sell my 2 - I beat him to it and sold them to my dad for £1 each - then had two vets put in writing one was nuts and the other lame so both worthless - he was so pi$$ed. NB - he then tried to fight custody for my daughter. Didn't win that either... ijit...
My ex advertised my last horse (sadly now passed) without my knowledge as a joke apparently, I had endless phone calls and I got extremely upset that he would do such a thing. He advertised him for £1000 when I had spent £5000 on him 8 months prior. 2 months after this incident I lost my Nessy in a hunting accident and ended up in hospital for a week, the first thing he said to me after was 'you should have let me sell him' I was horrified that I had married such a heartless idiot. Needless to say we are now getting divorced!
Where would you stand if you bought the horse in good faith, perhaps by word of mouth not having seen the ad?
Would the horse be considered stolen?
My ex DID sell a couple of my horses to a dealer, never did find them. I waited until he went to Belize on exercise for a few months and then sold his car, stereo, records (long time ago!) everything!
