Bought a sack of Baileys high fibre mix today, on opening it had over 20 little silvery moths in the top of the feed.

Flicked them out and the mix smells as normal, but a bit grossed out and debating whether to feed it or not?

Wwyd?

As mine eat all sorts it wouldn't bother me but wouldn't feed mix anyway so a bit irrelevant. Had it been in my feed I would likely pick out and feed unless it was easy to pop back with it for a replacement bag

The problem is that I have thrown away the receipt and they have a very strict returns policy......

I doubt the horses would give 2 hoots, I just wouldn't fancy knowing my cornflakes had insects floating around in them...!!
Were they in the bag when you opened it (i.e. they were inside the sealed bag)? If so, I would be taking it back to the feed merchants and asking to exchange or refund.

Yes they were

If its contaminated, it's not fit for purpose and their returns policy isn't worth the paper it's written on. I would take it back.

this from Which

If your goods are faulty and you don't have the receipt, you still have the right to a repair, refund or replacement as under the Consumer Rights Act. You just need to show proof of payment, such as a bank statement with the transaction on it.

unless you paid cash you can prove you bought. get a refund if you can. and they need to contact the feed supplier.

I'm looking for a thread (this one: 'There's a thread running about the recent World best 6 year old') and i came across this thread. It made me giggle because if my husband opened such a sack of feed (let alone our own bags of flour, nuts, blah blah in the cupbourd) and saw such creatures, he would scream. Well, shriek.

Moths and their offspring don't bother me in the slightest. If something smells healthy and good, I'm fine with it. My nose is very very good at sniffing out the suspect. I'd feed the feed.

please don’t leave that feed merchant because of one bad bag! See how they deal with the issue and what their customer service is like first!
