mmmm - depends on the situation. It may be necessary to keep the horse on the 'light' side due to laminitis etc.

I had a similar scenario to kick_on. I nearly lost my mare to lami last year and she had to be box rested with minimal feed and discovered someone was feeding her apples & carrots because they felt sorry for her and thought that as humans eat such foods when on a diet that it would be ok for my pony! This was inspite of having a note on the stable door asking people not to feed her - unbelievable!
