When I take my smexy poochie Finny out with me to shows/game fairs/events/down the street/park etc...

People ALWAYS want to talk to me about him - which I LOVE - I LOVE talking about my baby!!

BUT .... a HECK of a alot of people how much I paid for him

Do you consider this rude?

Some people ask after a long conversation... some others just bowl up and ask outright without even making a nice comment!!

Am I alone in thinking this is extremely rude?

Or am I being silly not wanting to tell people what I paid?

I always answer "Oh I'm not sure, my boyfriend bought him for me..."

In some respects I can understand it - I guess people always want to know the price of something they admire or envy, almost as a measure of your financial standing, but it would annoy me after a while too.
 
Never been asked that about any of my dogs!! Maybe you should take it as sort of a compliment 'cos he's such a good looking dude. Personally I would not ask someone that about anything be it dog horse car or whatever and yes I would consider it rude. I also hate it when people insist on telling you how much they paid for something. I'm really not that interested.

Yes very rude, same as when people ask how much I paid for my Donkey - it's my business!

I tend to go round the shows asking people if they would like to pay to own Bumble Dog, they always turn me down

[/ QUOTE ]I agree - I don't lik etelling people.. we got a BARGAIN with my boy - so I also feel to say the sum we paid would 'de-value' him... as he is defo worth twice if sales in his bloodlines are anything to go buy - winning crufts 2yrs in a row helps!!

I have a LONG-COATED AKITA............and I cant go any where without people crowding around me......asking about her/stroking her and asking how much I paid

I mostly walk her at night......cos I have even had people knocking on my door asking where I got her e,t,c

I have great pleasure in telling them she cost £1200 and I did not pay a penny for her.....cos she is rescued.
It can get a little annoying......and I can see where u are coming from.......in general it is pretty rude to ask HOW MUCH

Depends. If it's the first question they ask, I think it's definitely rude. (I had no such issues about answering the poll on here, however).

Living in the busiest part of Manhattan, I'm used to being stopped everywhere we go and basically interrogated. On an average walk, at least ten people ask to pet her, ask where I got her, why I chose a Boston, and many more go, "Aw, Boston Terrier!" or, much to my amusement, "Aw, a Pug/Frenchie/Mini Boxer/Pit puppy".

PS This is my dog and this is a Pit Bull puppy. Are people crazy?! Sure, they're the same family, but come on...

I wouldn't mind as long as maybe they had shown an interest inthe breed, say they'd love one etc but if they just came out with it I'd think them rude.

My uncle gets it the other way round. When he takes his lab Tina shooting ( black lab, one of the larger sized ones, pedigree not great, don't have papers, 7 year old and blind in one eye) He has been offered well over what she is worth (bought for like £100) but they are offering thousands!
 
A well trained gundog goes for a lot of money and she is well proven and that's what. She also has a fantastic temperament and loves kids. Although is nervous of strangers.

VERY rude, would never think of doing it.
If they want to know the rough value of the dog/breed its easy enough to find out form a breeder/sales page.
 
I wouldn't tbh as perhaps they are seeing what one will cost if they like him?
Same as I wouldn't find people asking if our horses are for sale rude.
