Would you find this creepy?

No spookier than going shopping or walking down any high street where there are cameras., and security guys being paid to watch them.

I doubt your YO just sits on their backside all day watching you, I expect they have something better to do.

If you don't like it leave.

That is a bit OTT for my liking, I certainly would want the yard protected but I wouldn't like to be there thinking my every move could be watched.

Mind you for cheap livery like that I would prob put up with it even though I wouldn't like it.

As long as they don't put one in the loo I don't see the problem

Actually I'd be quite reassured especially if you keep tack there.

As someone who has been the victim of theft not once but twice - things not horses luckily - I think your YO should be commended.

Do you not read all the Stolen Horse, Yard Break In, Stolen Trailer threads and the like?

Most of us would give our eyetooth for security like that. If I had my own place I'd definitely put it up.

I wish I had cctv installed - would save me having to doing freezing cold checks on the mares in foal and catch any b*ggers trying nick anything. Or even the local weirdos wandering about (found one last week!

I want one on the arena so someone might notice if I've hit the deck!!

I think its a fabulous thing and you can rest assured they have better things to do with their time than to go through hours of footage!

Anyone who doesn't like the idea of CCTV has generally got something to hide.

Golden Cross EC had a live webcam link on their website so you could see the stables and the indoor school - bit like a nanny cam! This is taking CCTV to a new extreme.

I think it is a good idea - especially if you want to watch live competing from your desk!!

Jemima, even though i have only been on here for 2 weeks, what does that matter? I was talking about H&H as in the magazine and website, not the forum. Think i've stirred up a fuss about nothing. We live in a super safe area and theft or in fact anything of that sort is practically unheard of. Touch wood i have never heard of any horse or trailer or tack or anything getting stolen. Thats why cctv seems way ott. Calm the bitchiness down!

I always want to say to comments like this that 'thieves do go on holidays'

Even to Wales!

It must be lovely living in an area such as yours. Possibly a rare place these days as far as anything staying where it is unless pinned down

I didn't answer this initially as I really wasn't sure what I thought, plus I didn't think you had given all the information about the place. Now that you have, yes I have to agree with you, I think it is rather over the top of them to do this, and if I was a livery at a tiny private place like this, then yes I would find it rather odd that they would wish to put up cameras in areas where only you guys are going.

Fair enough to have CCTV at the end of the driveway, or a CCTV camera covering the yard area but further than that, hmm yes I'd say rather strange.

I also live in a very safe area; no-one ever locks their houses, pretty much every vehicle has the keys left in them and I don't know anyone who has locks on their barns or tack rooms - it's just not that kind of place. I have a CCTV which will one day be installed at the end of our driveway, but as yet it has sat in its box for the past 3 years. I have my big doggies who alert me to anyone coming onto our property and I have trustworthy boarders so have no fear of anything being internally stolen. And so if I relate your place to my own place, then yes I do find it rather odd that they are going to these extremes.
