Would you get a sharer?

I have a lovely 16hh mare, she's 9 now but has been a broodmare for the last 5 years. She was backed at 4, and I re-backed her a couple of months ago but due to work/other horses I can only ride her 2-3 times a week at most. I'm considering trying to find a sharer for her - I wouldn't be looking for a financial contribution, but they would need to be very experienced and capable of bringing her on. Do you think I have any chance of finding someone suitable or do all sharers tend to be either kids or novices looking for quiet horses?
She loves jumping and hacking out but is very forward going (and throws the odd buck), and needs a lot of schooling as she is still quite unbalanced (and quite unfit due to lack of work). She is on a yard with great facilities but lives out and is impossible to catch without a bucket of feed!
I'm wary of advertising for a sharer as I don't know if I'd find anyone suitable. What would anyone else do? Is there anyone out there that has tried to find a sharer for a similarly unconventional horse?

to be honest i would be interested in sharing a horse like that - i love a challenge and i cna't afford a horse of my own. i lost my little old lady in April, and have been very fortunate to share a lovely 9yo 16.1hh mare (all rounder/eventer) who is not easy and probably about the right mix for me. there are plenty of 'good' riders out there who don't have a horse of their own, but i understand your worries, i would have been the same. try by word of mouth first and foremost. i only got into sharing India as the owner was working on the yard where i kept Shadow for about 3 months before i lost her. i didn't really know the owner at all, but she could see the standard of care i gave shadow, and saw my riding on a few occasions and felt comfortable enough that i could handle her, if i were willing.

i think that as long as you are as sensible as you sound about finding the right person then you could find someone that suits you both.

i know a few ppl who would be interested in a horse like that too. Espically if you don't want any financial contribution. i think there are experienced riders who just cant afford their own or want a project to compete and bring on.

I'd say advertise and see what kind of responses you get. Don't give up as it might take time to find the perfect sharer. Good luck! xx

There are 'good' sharers out there.

I have two for my horse during the week. One is my cousin, she used to hunt and compete her horse, but now can't afford one of her own and schools mine and takes him to dressage. The other is my YO's sister who also used to own horses, but now doesn't have the time and just enjoys a leisurely stroll round the block.

I think word of mouth is the best way to look, so ask around and hopefully you'll find someone who doesn't have the time or money to own but has the experience to ride your horse.

Thanks everyone - it's good to know there are people out there that are interested in sharing horses like mine
