I've been on riding holidays to Finland and Austria, although the Finnish one was more of an adventure holiday with riding included but it wasn't advertised as that!

If I was to go on a pure riding holiday I would chose somewhere where I could combine classical riding lessons with hacking/trekking; although nowadays I mainly choose a holiday then research any riding nearby.

Absolutely yes: in fact, I'm thinking of doing a riding holiday for my hen weekend! Get sore on a horse for a few days, then pampered and restored at a spa 80)

For the hen specifically I'd stay in the UK, preferably in Scotland or N. England. (When I'm in full time work, I'll be looking for a Western holiday in USA/Canada).

I'd look on the internet - do some googling, and ask on HHO for personal experiences good or bad for anything I like the look of.

I'd be looking for mostly trekking/hacking: the ability to see new places/landscapes, with opportunities to canter/gallop and maybe the occasional jump if the going's good and well known to the leader. Stateside, I'd be looking for a ranch holiday.

Is Martini nice? I've never had one before: only the rosso stuff with lemonade many many moons ago!
